Excellent museum of fire fighting equipment including uniforms, helmets, badges, patches, historical fire memorabilia, wrenches, fire hydrants, antique fire engines and so on. There is a small cost to get in - but it is worth it. The museum is located in the Little Italy section of San Diego and is about a two block walk from the MTS Trolley... More

This is right around the corner from home. I finally decided to visit it is only open on weekend. Great opportunity to learn about firefighting San Diego history and to purchase some mementos. I recommend this to any visitors and especially residents of San Diego county

The Museum structure is the same since it was operative, all of the historical evidences and Materials are very preserved and visitors are allowed to stay pretty close to the Firefighters History! Unfortunately I felt a little Lack of explanation but that was not important to take out the beauty of the Museum and of the History! I really recommend... More

The Firehouse Museum is not huge and will not take all day. I spent about an hour there and I was the only tourist at the time. The volunteer attendant did an excellent job. He went about his business after welcoming me but he was also very attentive to me each time I diverted him from his work to ask... More

Just switched from donations to small admission fee. Worth the $3 for adults . Not much for very young children.

Hint: This a great place for kids' parties or other social events. They have a kitchen/bar area for serving and a semi-open patio area in the back large enough for several tables and chairs where a caterer can set up for food service. I witnessed what appeared to be a 5 year old's birthday party and all the kids got... More

It about a 15 minute walk from Seaport to the museum. They are only open Thurs - Sun. Lots of neat stuff. Good selection of t-shirts. Support your fire fighters and give the museum a try.

Wonderful museum to visit with children. Vehicles and equipment from earliest eras of fire fighting are displayed along with many vintage photos and other memorabilia. The children loved being able to climb on a couple of the newer trucks and ring some of the bells. Their imaginations were in high gear as they pretended to be en route to a... More

I've been coming to the San Diego Firehouse Museum once in a while since the late 1960's. It is a gem of a museum located inside what was once San Diego's Engine 6 quarters and Repair Facility. When my children were young is was easily worth a visit once or twice a year. As an adult I still visit from... More

If you are like me and have the greatest respect for firefighters (if not you should) the next time you are in Little Italy in San Diego you should stop by for a visit. They have great displays of the history of the fire service in San Diego with several vintage trucks engines as well as uniforms, and sliding poles.... More
