In need of a tidyup

Yet another free thing to do at Balboa Park. The hedges are badly in need of a trim (as you may be able to see from the photos). Pretty much a walk through all the same...

It is a nice garden in a great area of San Diego and this garden tends to be lost in some of the other areas of Balboa Park and it could be better maintained but worth a visit if up at Balboa Park.

We wandered through here as part of a walk through Balboa Park. It's nowhere near as nice as similar gardens in Spain but it's a tranquil spot.

The Alcazar Garden may be small but I was very impressed. There are beautiful flowers which nicely compliment the architectural lines surrounding this elegant courtyard garden. It is both photogenic and peaceful. Worth stopping in on your next visit to Balboa Park. Loved the gorgeous fountains, too!

We really enjoyed walking around Balboa park as there were so many beautiful things to check out. A lot of their museums made you feel like you were in Spain- and this little garden with moorish architecture and design sealed the deal!

It's small and just out of the way enough to be a place you can sit and pause. The Spanish tile and water features amongst all the flowers make an excellent backdrop for pictures. There are benches to rest for a brief time without a few hundred people walking all about you. Get there early in the morning and its... More

Shaped borders with lovely flowers are seen with the tender care of volunteers. The display is changed frequently and always a joy to take a few minutes to walk amount the displays.

This is a popular spot for wedding and quinceañera photography due to surroundings of gardens and a backdrop of interesting buildings. Between planting seasons some of the areas are dirt, but it’s a nice “pass through” garden when visiting museums.

This is a very beautiful garden/park. The zoo and museums are also in this area and everything is very picturesque. Great walking trails/areas. The architecture of the surrounding buildings is fascinating.

We wandered around Balboa Park for two days enjoying the well known sites (San Diego Museum of Art) but also experiencing little gems like the Alcazar Garden, which is patterned after gardens in Spain. It is located near the Mingei Museum and is close to the SD Museum of Art. We were here in January so we definitely did not... More
