I was only in SD for the evening and had an amazing dinner across the street - I was so excited to see the park all lit up. But after a few photographs I was approached by a lot of people asking for money and as a single female traveller I decided at that point it was not a safe place for me to be after dark. I walked by after taking the Trolley during the day and all the same people were still there lingering.

The mall was sad. All the stores were closed except Macy's. There are a lot of homeless people in the place and security guard chasing them away (So sad). I did sit by the fountain for away and enjoy the sunshine

Located in the heart of San Diego in the Gaslamp district this small park is a great spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle. The main fountain is an interesting center piece with a long history. The dancing water fountain that shares the space is sure to attract kids of all ages. The shopping mall has an impressive Macys and several other stores. Lots of restaurants, clubs, and attractions surround this venue so plan to spend some time.

Strolling along Broadway it was pleasantly surprising to see the ornate fountain as a landmark in the park. The fountain was completed in 1910, supported by donations from people of wealth.
Walking through the park we encountered other attractions such as the amphitheatre.
