Although this park is located within San Diego's city limits, it remains one of the wildest landscapes along the Southern California coast, with miles of unspoiled beaches, chaparral, elegant Torrey Pine trees and a lagoon vital to many species of migrating birds.

Even if you're a light hiker, this park is a good place to visit. All trails are light inclines, and most have amazing views of the ocean. We enjoyed a few hours, and would highly recommend.

You can hike or drive up to the top of the hill. We drove and then hiked several of the trails. The views are outstanding - beautiful scenery. The car fee was $12. A docent was available at the trailhead to answer questions.

We walked some of the trails here, and found them to be scenic, well maintained, and a good workout. The beach area was also nice.

So views are so beautiful and there are so many nice hiking trails for easy and moderate hikers. But you have to arrive early to get street parking. Parking lots charge $15 a day.
