I needed a rental bike for a short time, to get around downtown and the Balboa Park area. These guys were very responsive and helpful, and rented me a great Raleigh comfort bike with 29” wheels! Very solid feel to this reg, yet it was lightweight as well. A joy to ride around town; up and down hills.

They offer 4-hour as well as all-day rental. I was also offered a U-bar lock and a helmet for the very reasonable rental rate ($18 for the 4 hours). These guys are primarily a bicycle shop, with an emphasis on servicing and repair of bikes to local area customers. But you wouldn’t know it based on their customer service ethic and willingness to help out those who want to rent 😊.

Really good experience renting a bike here. Equipment was great at a very good price. I had no issues with customer service.

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and after checking out a few other rental places this place had the best selection for us (big turnover day so bikes usually get returned later in the day). We selected to hybrids (Raleigh brand) which were very comfortable and $85 for the week. They even told us if we stopped back when other bikes were returned we could exchange them if we saw something we liked better, at no charge (we didn't). They provided us with a map and a small bike bag and the advice that bike theft is rampant, always keep on eye on it. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis and the bellman recommended to keep the bikes in our room, which we did.

Three of us ( one mom two teens) rented bikes here to ride around San Diego Waterfront and Coronado for the day. It was not easy to locate the shop due to one way streets and construction but once inside they took care of us nicely. They did not have printed maps but showed us on-line where we wanted to go. These are bike shop dudes not tour guides...they were as helpful as they could be. If you want a bike downtown I would go here!

I am reveiwing this shop as a bike RENTER, so my opinion might be different from a local who uses this place to service their own bikes. It seemed as though the store was MUCH more interested in selling and fixing bicycles, and the rental part was just an annoying afterthought.
My husband and I were searching for a bike rental place in downtown San Diego on a late-afternoon. There are several shops, but we chose this one because they were open a little later than all the others (until 6PM) & had very competitively priced bike rentals.
They are located on C Street, just north of the Gaslamp District, right where things start to get a little seedy. We bypassed the panhandlers milling around and ducked into the store. It is certainly a WORKING shop, not there to impress bike-renting tourists. The employees were rather gruff and seemed a little put out that we wanted to rent. I would say my biggest complaint and warning is that they have NO street maps for you to take like most bike rental places do. Fortunately we had our own, and the guy behind the counter pointed out how to get to Balboa Park (about a 15 minute ride away uphill [but only 7 minutes downhill on the way back!]).
In the end, everything worked out fine, but I would not recommend the place for bicycle renters. I can't say how great they might be for locals who do other business there, but unless you too need to rent bikes until 6PM, there are better places nearby.
