Visiting the Cabrillo monument you have a beautiful view of the Point Loma Lighthouse. The history plaque at the monument provides necessary details & when you drive down to the tide pools you understand there has been a new lighthouse built in addition to this historic one.

Anytime I'm able to travel sans children I get to enjoy these types of sites so much more. It was nice to be able to take the time to read about the history of this beautiful spot of the world.

A look into the past! Lots of antiques to give you that old time feeling. Perfect for a family weekend drive trip. The views are just beautiful. Bring a nice camera to capture the nature beauty.

Nice historic display. Grounds are pretty, but are better when flowers are in bloom. Wish you could go all the way to the top

It was great to see one of the oldest light houses in California, and the keepers quarters which were maintained the way they were at the time lighthouse first opened. The history of the place was fun to read, and the views were amazing! Well worth the ride.

Lighthouses are all about the view and history. Here you can definitely learn about the history of families who lived here and the work of a lighthouse worker. It is not an easy job, but a very important one !

Take a ride to Point Loma. Along the way is the Military Cemetary, reminiscent of Arlington with it's neat rows of headstones. The area around the lighthouse has an observation area that you can view the Navy Base in Coronado and you can see Mexico and some small islands off the coast from there as well. This is part of... This part of San DIego is a must see. I always take visitors here for a great view of dowtown San Diego, Coronado and the coastline. There is an entry fee as it is a state park but you can get a year pass which is good value for money. The lighthouse is interetsing to see, if you can join... More
