Walking this 5 mile walk that offers multiple and continuously changing perspectives of habitat natural to the Southern California Pacific coast is a pleasure. Gentle slopes combine with the indentations where reeds and other local fauna thrive. You can also rent a boat to row and try fishing as well.

I live close to the lake, so I try to take my dog down for a long walk most days. You have the choice of walking on the sandy path or on the paved path, on hot days the paved path can get very hot, and burn my dog's paws. The paved way is getting a little rough, and it... More

I used to go to the Lake Miramar Reservoir to either walk or inline skate.. Being in San Diego for business, I chose to visit this place again after years that I had not been there. It is quite scenic and pleasant. But like all places that see a fair amount of visitors, it has problems too. PARKING: B. Usually... More

We went here because someone recommended it to us, but it was not what I expected. We started walking in the afternoon and came back when it was dark. The paved trail is very long and I do not recommend that you try to walk everything unless you start early. Bring a hat, food, and a lot of water. What... More

Easy to find, plenty of free parking. Nice flat paved road for walking all the twists and turns around the reservoir. I walked it in slightly over an hour so I wouldn't say it was challenging, but you could certainly make it a challenge by taking one of the side trails up hill. Plenty of room for walking, running or... More

The lake and the surrounding hills offers a nice scenery for some outdoor exercise, but it's not a nature hike. Apart from some ducks in the lake we saw no animals. Bring soft trainers and not hiking boots as the trail is paved and thus very hard. We intended to go to the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve just a few... More

I was in the area and remembered seeing a TA review talking about “pleasant walk around the lake, birds & wildlife” so I decided to try it. Yes, you may like it if you like dull, paved road of 5 miles. Or if your idea of “close to nature” includes bikers, barking dogs, screaming kids, few birds (teal mostly), many... More

The walk around the Miramar lake and reservoir is a fun activity and covers a distance of about 5 miles. The best part of it is the bird watching. I just spotted about hundreds of ducks in a glance. There is a bridge that takes close to the lake. If you are planning to hire a boat, you could take... More

I used to rollerblade there every Saturday. It's a great round to do. I think you can go all the way around again as it was closed off for a bit but it should be open again. There's also bbqs to use for picknicks and off road trails for mountain bikers
