We have had season tickets for twenty years, with a range of performances and stagings from 3 to 5+ stars. This play was a standout and compelled this review. Ten+ years ago we attended a one man show about which we have never stopped talking. We forgot the name of the actor. But he was brilliant. Imagine our excitement in... More

Engaging writing, masterful acting and creative direction combine for a first-rate theatrical experience in "The History (and Mystery) of the Universe" on stage at the Rep through April 3. Actor Ron Campbell channels R. Buckminster Fuller with all his imagination, brilliance and eccentricity. This play is one of thousands I've seen in my life as a theater aficionado and reviewer,... Highly entertaining...if you like physics and Bucky, that is..and even educationall! The theater is in the remodel process but there was nothing to distract the great performance and subject. Don't go for just being entertained, though. You might be challenged by the material!

We've been to the San Diego Rep a couple of times. It's an EXTREMELY CONFUSING venue to to go if you've never been before or don't frequent it. While it's called the San Diego Reperatoire theater, the signs outside say LYCEUM. And there's also The Balboa Theater located near by, which is not the same place. Better signage is needed.... The Rep is one of the many consistently good theater venues in San Diego. It's centrally located downtown, so it's ideal for tourists, and their offerings balance out commercial shows with edgier fare. Definitely worth checking what's on their schedule when you're visiting, because they often partner with other amazing arts groups. They also usually have an art display in... More

I had not been to the Rep in several years and was shocked to find the decor shabby, carpets coming up, seats lumpy and...well it's just run down. The Nillson show was OK, good music, a bit too long in my opinion. Staff is very friendly and I doubt there is a bad seat in the house as far as... More

Inspired composer and playwright have put together this seamless musical medley that tells a "stream of consciousness" story which only could be portrayed by very talented actors... Go see it now! AND DON'T MISS the art on the walls from the San Diego Watercolor Society!

Having been a season ticket holder for a number of years, this past season, my wife and I decided we'd wasted enough time and money going to see poorly produced plays at The Rep and stopped going. They really need to get rid of Sam Woodhouse, the Artistic Director.
