This attraction is called Sliding House, not Sliding Rock. Sliding House Overlook is a viewpoint on paved South Rim Drive (Rt. 7) in Canyon de Chelly National Monument, about 10 miles east of the visitor center (free admission). The distant ruin that is visible across...More

I loved looking down on these incredible rock structures and the tiny trees on the canyon floor. Each stop in the canyon is a trip in itself.

There are lots of ruins in the Four Corners and many are easier to see and more well preserved than this one. Once again, you can't get very close at all.

You have to search a little to see these ruins, but the views surrounding this area are amazing. This is one of my favorite canyons, and these views are some of the reasons why.

At maybe a mile and a half drive, this overlook is the longest distance off the road of all the south rim overlooks. The road is paved, there is plenty of parking, and the view is incredible. If you are not mobile, though, you should...More

It is impossible to get too much of Canyon de Chelly. In Northeast Arizona on Navajo land it is truly a miraculous pale of nature.

Viewed from an easily accessible overlook, this is a magnificent geological view. You can hike through the canyon with a guide, but you can only really get the scale from the top of the canyon.

The ruin can be a bit hard to see from the overlook, but the viewpoint is still gorgeous. We loved the 2 days we spent at Canyon de Chelly and still would like to return for another visit.

This viewpoint has a wonderful view of the canyon. The ruins can only be seen through a telescope or your binoculars, but the overall view is the star at this stop.

This is a beautiful ruin which includes an amazing view of the canyon floor. There is a little farm nearby and we could see the newly plowed field ready for planting. I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 due to the fact that...More
