My daughter and I visited this on a cold, windy day in November. There was not a lot going on in terms of tours and educational programs - but, the list for "seasonal" educational offerings was really interesting. We walked the trails and really enjoyed the boardwalk out to the water/bay area. If you enjoy wildlife and the outdoors -... More

We had heard about the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary so we went to check it out. Very nice visitors center with friendly staff. They have several walking trails through the woods and along the marshes where you can see wildlife and nature as you go. The trails are well packed dirt or gravel so the walking is easy and lots... The Sanctuary opens at 8:00 AM but the nature center didn't until 8:30, so I put my $5 fee into a slot on a pipe at the entrance to the trails (which was sort of hard to find without the mapI would normally be able to procure in the nature center). For the first round of trails, then, I was... More

great place to go for a relazing few hours, water all around, trails are easy 1 to 1.5 miles, birds surround you, check for mushrooms of white, brown, gold and even yrllow; the views are everywhere. the hardest is find the location just after the drive-in watch for the white and blue sign. remember the tides best time to go... I've driven by the sanctuary off route 6 for 25+ years and never stopped. Over the Columbus Day holiday, we took a few hours to explore. Definitely worth the $5 entry fee. There are a number of trails and depending on the tide, you can walk all the way out to the bay. To get the most out of your... More

This is a great place for any age group. their exhibits and walks to the shore are well laid out. A great place to experience not only the ocean but also Salt Marsh and mud flats. It is important to plan your day with the tides to take full advantage of the area! Saw lots of birds. Will definitely go... More

Tall marsh grasses and wooded paths take you away from the crowds. Gorgeous vistas across varied Cape Cod scenery, truly beautiful. Great spot to animal watch, hike and appreciate nature.

We usually rent a place that is very close to the sanctuary, so we visit it on every trip. The center, its displays, and the walkways are packed with good information about the local wildlife, but if you just go for the views you'll be very pleased. We often encounter dedicated birdwatchers waiting to capture a glimpse of same rare... More

Right off of Rt. 6 in Wellfleet, you could pretty well miss it unless looking for it. Be sure to put it in your navigator because you don't want to miss it! This is an absolute bargain for the $5 entry fee. After looking at the exhibits in the nature center (you'll see a rare blue lobster, several other live... More

We've been going to the cape for years. We always passed the sign for the Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, but never went. This past summer we decided to stop after going to the Marconia Area, since it's virtually across the street. There is a minimal fee to get in, but it's well worth it. The sanctuary is quite extensive and it... More
