Right off of Rt. 6 in Wellfleet, you could pretty well miss it unless looking for it. Be sure to put it in your navigator because you don't want to miss it! This is an absolute bargain for the $5 entry fee. After looking at the exhibits in the nature center (you'll see a rare blue lobster, several other live... More

We've been going to the cape for years. We always passed the sign for the Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, but never went. This past summer we decided to stop after going to the Marconia Area, since it's virtually across the street. There is a minimal fee to get in, but it's well worth it. The sanctuary is quite extensive and it... More

Walk through various eco systems and enjoy a natural landscape. This place is packed with flora and fauna and is a birders paradise. We walked around at low tide and enjoyed watching all the fiddler crabs move about. It's a wonderful space and I would recommend it if you're passing through the area. There's also a nice little nature center.... More

Nicer towns with friendlier people. The Wellfleet Oysters are world renowned. But the town is nothing to talk about. Confused town.

The volunteers are very knowledgeable, the landscape is stunning, the indoor space displays explanations well adapted to young children and the gift shop has a nice selection.

Free parking, $5 for adults (less for children), nice nature center with restrooms, water fountain, helpful & friendly docents ... definitely worth a stop if you enjoy walking through freshwater & saltwater wetlands and barrier beaches to look for turtles, birds & crabs, etc. We walked the Bay View Trail (1.4 mi) and the Goose Pond Trail (1.4 mi). Goose... More

I really wasn't sure what to expect upon arrival. A pleasant gem to take a walk or a hike. If you are into photography this is a must. If you are interested in turtles, crabs, birds, and other wildlife this is well worth it.

This sanctuary offers a beautiful hike that goes thru varied terrain, including woods, meadows and marshland. There were knowledgeable birders volunteering along the boardwalk in the marsh to help you find and identify the shore birds you were seeing.
