While on vacation visiting the beaches of Dennis, Orleans, and Nauset I thought that we would head up to Wellfleet for the day. I figured a day on the beach and oysters for lunch. From the reviews online I settled on Mayo Beach. What a...More

I've been coming to Wellfleet and Mayo Beach for the past 35 summers, first with our kids, and now with the grandkids. The water is calm and perfect for kids, and a favorite of the cottage renters along Kendrick Ave. For swimming, be sure to...More

With so many beautiful beaches around I'm not sure why someone would go to Mayo Beach. It feels more like an extension of parking lots nearby, not really a place to chill in the sun.

Nice little beach near the pier and harbor of Wellfleet. We parked at this location and it seems like it is free parking and you don't need a beach sticker like most beaches in the area. We went to the beach at high tide and...More

Mayo beach is a wonderful place to host the 4th of July Wellfleet 43rd annual 5 mile road race. The venue is right on Wellfleet harbor with plenty of free parking, restaurants, theater, beach and the pier within easy walking distance. The view is expansive...More

Mayo Beach is great for families! It's pretty quiet, as there is limited, but free, parking. There is a large playground with skate park across the street and porta potties. There is also a basketball court close by. A casual restaurant across the street and...More

7am with a coffee - that's where you'll find me. I'll be on one of the benches on Mayo beach watching the world and soaking up the ambience. Go away - you're in my spot!

Being on Wellfleet Bay provides beachgoers with a calmer experience than at the Ocean shore. Nevertheless, check wind and tide conditions before visiting. Westerly winds can sometimes kick up and make it less than pleasurable. As for tides, we prefer high tide for wading and...More

Mayo Beach is calm waters beach that I usually see a lot of families with children at. The perking lot is close and they recently rebuilt the walkway to the beach. If you are into photography, then this is an easy place to get to

After reading the reviews, we planned one day of our one week vacation for Mayo Beach to accommodate a few in our group that could not make the climb to the ocean beaches. We drove by the prior day to see Mayo beach and it...More

Depends on how many people will be there and the tide. During the summer the beach gets crowded. If you're there at high tide it takes up a lot of the room. As other people have said here, check with with the town Hall.
