    Masterpiece of Art Deco architecture
The Chrysler Building is a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture. It was completed in 1930, in the depths of the Great Depression. The building was wholly owned by Walter Chrysler. Chrysler intended that the skyscraper would be a reflection of the Modernism embodied in Chrysler automobiles. The Chrysler Building was the tallest building in the world for a brief period. Although the Empire State Building was taller, many observers think that he Chrysler Building is an outstanding landmark of Art Deco design. It is probably the most striking building in NYC.

    Iconic Art Deco Skyscraper
Once the tallest building in the world when completed in 1930, it was eclipsed by the Empire State Building 11 months later. However, it remains a stunning architectural masterpiece and is considered one the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the world. The iconic skyscraper seems to pop up into view around every turn when walking around midtown Manhattan near Grand Central Station.

    Look for the Spire
We could see it from the window of our Brooklyn apartment. It has the iconic art deco spire. An important office building from the early 20th Century, now it is just an office building midtown on 42nd Street. The spire looks great after dark.

    An NYC beauty.
An Art Deco classic. The building is visible from many blocks around, and is spectacular as it gleams in the sunlight. Truly an icon of design and architecture. The lobby is open to visitors, and gives a sense of the glamour of NYC in times gone by. Lovely details to observe on the walls, elevator doors, and ceilings.

Great views of the city. The building pics are nice as well.
This is a great view of the Chrysler building. It’s sad and bad that I get this building and the Empire mixed up. I should know the ornate arches at the top of the Chrysler building by now. :/ It’s a good picture view up from Lexington. Every time I come to NYC, I realize there’s yet another building or site seeing locale I missed.

2 weeks ago I had my first trip ever to New York City and I’ve been always fascinated by the Chrysler Building after seeing it in so many films and photos. I took many pictures from the outside and after reading so many negative reviews on tripadvisor, I got the courage to try to enter the lobby. I was with my father, a security guard approached us and politely told us that if we stand still in a corner we can take some photos, but not videos and then to leave. I was beyond excited that I got the chance to see the famous lobby after so many years of dreaming about seeing this building! I hope that they will open an observation deck one day.

This iconic New York landmark can be admired only from the street. Not even the lobby is open to the public. Perhaps this will change in the future.

Bad bad new management won’t allow anyone to see the beautiful lobby. Lived in NYC for 45 years. Took a friend just to see the lobby and we were NOT ALLOWED.

22/02/2023 met at the entrance of the building by the head of security abusing people who entered before we did. What a awful man. People trust me you don't want to go. He told us it's been closed to the public for three years. Nasty chap but it didn't ruin our day

You are not allowed into the lobby anymore and the security staff are very rude and aggressive if you do go in the door.. I would suggest they put a sign up to say there is no longer public access so people font try and visit..Also TripAdvisor could update their blurb to say you can no longer enter.. It is an amazing building from the outside ..
