Was very informational about everything that the immigrants went through. I was looking forward to finding my distant relatives that immiagrated here but they charge per 30 minutes to use the computers and we were running out of time.

Went to Ellis Island for the first time with my best friend of 40+ yrs. He had told me that he believed several of his ancestors had emigrated to America via Ellis Island. We went over to the research center where, assisted by several very helpful and knowledgeable LDS volunteers, he was able to find detailed records on the voyages... More

Ellis Island is a huge part of the United States history and it would be hard to imagine not combining a visit here with a visit to the Statue of Liberty. The island is a short trip after Liberty Island, only the necessary security queues to get on the ferry slow things down. The island offers a good mix of... More

Wish I'd had time for the hard hat tour but it's a must see whatever. There's a lot of reading - id have liked more exhibits - more experience if you like but still, very informative. Watch out for the blimmin seagulls stealing your food if you eat out side!

Very good museum, great views of the Manhattan sky line, best side of the ferry from the statue of liberty is the left (port) side for views of the statue and island (opposite side than the ferry trip to the Statue of Liberty)

So much history......it is really mind-blowing. Our tour was a few hours and we stayed a little after to hang out. We followed our excursion with a late lunch at Fraunces.

Take the audio tour and follow the various rooms that show the conditions and emotions of immigrants arriving into US for the first time. With reenactments and detailed explanations, you can take as little or as long as you want. Gives you a great insight into the foundations of the US.

I am very glad to have gone to Ellis Island. The museum was interesting and it was good to stand in the actual space to better imagine the immigrant experience. The movie was very good. The gift shop unremarkable. We did not get off at the Statue of Liberty but had very good photo opportunities from the boat. The online... More

A pretty, quiet island (in contrast to Times Square). Lovely views from the island, and on the boat over. There is also a museum to visit.
