Not really a fan of bedlam of Times Square, not even sure what the attraction really is here. Too many people, and overload of senses

A word of the wise for parents: Times Square is not Disneyland. It is a hub in a major city. People live, work, shop and commute in this neighborhood. If you think you can walk around holding your little cherub's hand, be aware that you may have to momentarily drop it on crowded sidewalks. If not, prepare to move to... More

We unfortunately had to visit here after our daughter needed the bathroom. We found one in the McDonalds. It's just overrated and a tourist trap.

I go to NYC a few times a year and always stop by Times Square to just sit and watch the "goings on". It's alway busy, lots of people rushing around and congested, so expect that, but the buzz is entertaining.

I enjoyed Time Square but it is extremely loud with Tourist, Police and Fire, Taxi Cabs, solicitors (to many) bus tours, bike tours etc. How many people dressed in costumes as Mickey Mouse do you need in Time Square? There are way to many of these characters around Time Square. It is a must see.

Really an amazing experience with all the people going in every direction, and the big screens displaying commercial. Hard to describe, you got to experience it!

This area of New York is so busy but amazing. Central London has nothing on this place as any car stops for a second and others are beeping their horn in less than 2 seconds! It is a hive of activity nearly all the time and even at 6am it is still bustling, albeit with more room. Throughout Times Square... More

Times Square is a unique place to visit. There seems to be a little bit of everything from shopping, entertainment, dining, etc. Being one of the biggest tourist areas means higher prices for everything there. Street performers are all over the place but must be within green painted areas. Stay away from these areas unless you want to be accosted... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
