Russell is a very engaging walking guide who leads a truly robust tour of the Irish mafia, vicious murders and various nefarious doings in the West 40s. There was so much "blood" spent on our walk that you may want to postpone dinner for awhile! I especially enjoyed when the murders were put into a larger, historical context of the Irish mobsters gradually losing their usefulness to the Italian Mafia that had allowed such gangs as the Westies to originally operate. Enjoy these now-gentrified avenues and side streets but be mindful how much past fear and death still lurks below the surface.

Wow. Russel Wolin loves his Mob history, and it really comes out in his story telling. His knowledge of the history and architecture and immigration of NYC mixes with his knowledge of not just the Irish mafia, but all the mob factions to make for one fun, seamless, and fascinating tour. I'm booking with him next time I'm in town.

Thank you very much, Debbie! It was a pleasure touring you through the seedy underbelly of old New York. Looking forward to our next adventure!

What I remember about Hell's Kitchen when I was much younger was simple:
you didn't go there; don't ask questions. I suppose that's the reason the area always held a bit of mystery for me, so I was very intrigued by the Hidden New York Tour regarding the Irish Mobs that ruled that neighborhood. The old Five Points neighborhood is difficult to imagine nowadays but Hell's Kitchen still retains a bit of its toughness - as well as some of the buildings where certain events took place - and it's easy to picture the figures the guide, Russell, brings very much to life carrying out their crimes at the various sites. (Warning: graphic details.) Of course, some of those figures ARE still alive, which is amazing in itself when you learn about their activities. Those interested in true crime stories will learn some surprising details on this tour, particularly the "understandings" between the Irish and Italian gangsters.Interesting tour, Russell!

We did this tour because we had such a great time on the Weird New York Greenwich Village tour, and saw that this was down by the same operator Hidden New York Tours. Our tour was on a blustery Saturday night after St. Patrick's Day. Tour group was fairly large, but the tour guide did a great job! Missed the last 20 minutes because we were freezing but would definitely like to take it again!

I was not notified that the tour was cancelled until I had showed up to the tour. Was looking forward to this, but was told after I had to call that tour guide was sick.

Apologies for that, Thomas. We were notified last minute as well about the guide's condition.

Russell was our guide for this tour and he did a great job! It was a very interesting and well written presentation. Great jokes and interaction with the group. He would talk about the subject very effortlessly and respond to any questions, showing his great knowledge of it all. Loved every minute of it! I already recommended this tour to a few people and will continue to do so!

Did the Irish Mob tour. Russell was great! Very informative and funny, really set the scene. We were able to visit the areas, buildings and bars where the crimes took place. Loved it! Well worth the price!

Wonderful tour and guide. The best thing about it? Learning about the events and people on the sidewalks outside the actual buildings where it all happened. Very well researched.
