You will experience all of the emotions seeing Come From Away. From laughter to tears, we thoroughly enjoyed this show. Bring tissues. The cast was amazing. The set, while simple, was intriguing. They switched from scene to scene effortlessly. The orchestra/band was AMAZING. There is not a bad seat in this theater. The theater employees were friendly and the guys working the concession were entertaining. Drinks were pricey, but this is actually a shorter production without an intermission. The time flew by. Definitely a must see on Broadway!

I went to this play with no expectations as I didn’t know much about it and I’m not the biggest musical theatre fan to begin with. My friend wanted to see it, so I went along. I can’t get over how good that show was! I left with tears in my eyes and wanting to turn around and see it again. It was emotional, uplifting, funny, witty, and clever. I promise that you won’t be disappointed.

I will be honest, my expectations were stellar for this performance. We were in Huntsville, AL, for the day, and knew there was a musical. As of the time we visited, we had seen two BTL shows at the time: Cats and Aladdin, which were both clean and spectacularly staged. And so, accounting for my daughter’s affinity for history, we bought tickets. The show started promptly on time, and then the hill started to slope. Problem number 1: the plot was baffling. It bounced and bobbled around every few seconds. We were just barely able to follow it, and with difficulty at that. The second flaw: a poorly written script. The townspeople seemed abnormally aggressive and quite flat in their personalities. Finally, my biggest issue with the production: the forced obscenities . Roughly three minutes in, a gentleman spouted the first of five vulgarities in the twenty minutes we were in the theatre. Throughout, the nature made us feel uncomfortable, so we vacated our seats and left the hall after the fifth, feeling unsettled and our expectations destroyed. Overall, our experience and the rule of no refunds has left us losing our trust in BTL and its shows.
Tip: If you want to go see Come From Away, I would not recommend the first third of an hour to teens and children under 15.

I wanted to love this broadway play but unfortunately I was very disappointed. For a Broadway play it lacked good costume, scene were literally the same scene every act, and the story was boring and lacked the Broadway character seen in other Broadway plays. The story was good, but theatrics lacked the excitement seen in most Broadway plays.

There's a reason why Come from Away has been running around the world for so many years. It's fantastic! It tells the story about the days following 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland when 38 planes carrying 7000 people were grounded. Only a cast of 12, each playing multiple roles, plus an incredible band. SO cleverly staged to tell the amazing stories of those few days. Also, the Shoenfeld Theater is the perfect size...orchestra and mezzanine only. We had first row left mezz seats, which were just great. Didn't miss a thing! Go see it!

This is one of the best plays we have seen in NYC. It is lively, entertaining, funny, and has subtle messaging that pays tribute to 911. We plan on seeing again. The use of simple props to simulate different situations such as airplane seats is fabulous and innovative.

This is the story of a planeload of people who were on their way to Texas on 9/11/2001. They were forced to land in Gander, Canada, and they stayed there for 4 days. The town rallied, everybody was housed and fed, and friendships were made. A real heart-warming story. No intermission. It would definitely break the mood of the story.

We are so glad Broadway shows are running again as this is a MUST show to see!
Based on a true story during the 9/11 days, the show is simply fantastic.
The story is told in such a marvelous and interesting way accompanied by live wonderful music.
Almost 2 hours ( no break) simply flew by.

I've attended so many live theater shows, and this was by far one of the best experiences.
First, the theater is very small and intimate and you almost feel like you're a part of things. I'm so glad that we chose to see this one on Broadway at the Schoenefeld, instead of one of the traveling tours.
The show itself is different than anything else I've ever seen. The cast changes roles, with each actor playing a couple different people--they do this in such a seamless way that you almost don't even notice...just a subtle change in their outfit and accent. It was very cool to watch. It's also the first show I've ever attended that ran straight through, with no intermission, but I think that worked for this show beautifully.
Finally, the story. I'd read the book that Come From Away is based on and loved it, so I knew I'd be familiar with and enjoy the story. And I expected to cry, because, while heartwarming, it was about one of the worst days in US history. However, I didn't expect to laugh as much as I did. There were some truly comedic moments that brightened the entire experience.
If you can, grab these last couple of weeks and check this show out on broadway before it closes. You won't be sorry.

Best Show!! I had heard a few of the songs from the musical before deciding which shows to see while visiting NYC. The songs alone made me decide that we should see this musical, and it did NOT disappoint;-). Music was beautifully written and so enjoyable. The set, props, and costumes were simple in ways, but used so well and perfect to add to the stories told in the musical without any distractions. We all laughed, cried, and felt every character in the show. The cast and musicians were all phenomenal!!!

Can someone who doesn't speak/understand English very well enjoy this show ?

Je suis d'accord avec de nombreux points dans les réponses ci-dessus. Le mieux est d'écouter en ligne et de voir si vous pouvez le suivre. Les chansons en disent long sur le scénario.
That is from Google translate :)

Would this be a good show for boys ages 8 & 11? We discussed in a little more detail about 9/11 this past Sept. I think the 9/11 museum might be too much for them, but thought this heartwarming story might be a good connection for them. Just wondering what others who have seen the show think about kids this age attending. Thank you!

I think they would be bored as there are many external references they would miss.
Mind you - if you got up close to the stage the magic of watching the details might help.

Is this show kid friendly? Kids ages 15, 13, & 9?

I think a discussion should take place prior to the show. Then the performance will be extremely meaningful.

It is a small theater. All sears are good. I was on the last row on the floor and it was fine.
