“Lovely park for chilling”
Park located in the East Village that was the scene of a big uprising in 1991 when a decision was made to evict the park's homeless in order to renovate; today, the park is pretty and quiet, but is still home to many who have no where else to go.

We were located over Avenue A this time so we had the park in front of our apartment. The park is small but peaceful and is nice to spend some hours...

Tompkins Square Park is a lovely park. Great for a morning or afternoon of chilling, reading a book and such. I think there are mostly locals. Nice area around it with food-options.

This is a very good park to spend time with your friends and family also dogs. There is a special place for dogs. This park used to be a place for most of the homeless in late 80s

Nice park used mainly by people with dogs at the nicely situated dog playground. We enjoyed the park and the vibe. Only problem is the many (MANY) rats running around everywhere.

For the tourist Tomplins Square park is a welcome break from the city and I recommend taking time to do a workout in the facilities just behind the basket court. There are many good pull-up bars, a dip bar, monkey latter etc. Many local come...More

The park is very pretty in the spring. It's not huge, but we still enjoyed walking around and seeing the different flower gardens.

We went to this park several, as our apt was two blocks away from there. There are like four playgrounds for kids of different ages. Our two year old twins really enjoy all of them. A bit crowded on weekends, but on weekdays it was...More

Went on a beautiful day. Lots of people but plenty of space. Good condition. Great that kids area is segregated and for kids only.

East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college
students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the
old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of
the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to
