Pretty Park in the Big City

The lovely park in the Village with the famous arch. Good place to take a break from your wanderings in Greenwich Village. Be prepared for crowds.

I visited this venue during a walk around New York City. It was (as expected) populated by a variety of students engaged in a wide range of activities (roller blading; acrobatics; music). Despite the numbers and range of activities this was surprisingly peaceful and relaxing. I would suggest a stop here to recover from an otherwise stressful day

If you haven't been Paris then you would possibly feel like you are in Europe. The arc is really picturesque. Close to university too

Nice place to go and relax after walking through Chinatown, Little Italy and the Lower East Side. The arch is wonderful. In the warmer months, there are street festivals on the weekends.

Worth a visit, including the Washington Square Arch and Park fountain. NYU buildings surround the Park, which is nearly 10 acres and a center for cultural activity.

good place to visit whilst in Greenwich Village, well weather permitting, worth the visit to see the Iconic Arch, There are usually quite a few street entertainers/buskers in the Park good for having a wind down sitting soaking up the atmosphere.

A neat place to say you've been. This park is basically in the middle of NYU's campus. We went the day that Winter Storm Stella hit, and the park was beautifully covered in snow!

I love Washington Square Park. It is one of my favorite parks in NYC. It is a great place to sit and rest during the day and a must see at night with the monument all lit up.

Washington Square Park has a nice Christmas Tree however it is quite small. For tourists I would suggest spending the day in Central Park as it is so diverse and if you have spare time pop into Washington but it was quite underwhelming to what I had expected

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
