About
Ornate and even a bit eerie, the neo-gothic Grace Church is nonetheless lovely.

I wandered in to Grace Church on a ramble around the neighborhood and was stunned by the experience. I arrived just after noon on a Thursday to find a Bach organ concert in process - I took a seat in one of the pews and drank in the beautiful music. The concert lasted until 1 pm, after which time I self-toured the church. There is a small self-guided tour available for use called "15 minute tour of Grace Church," which I highly recommend - it was full of interesting information and helped me notice things I would otherwise have overlooked. The stained glass windows are beautiful examples of late 19th century craftsmanship, and the carved altar is gorgeous. Altogether, the spirit of the church is welcoming and peaceful. Whatever your religious or spiritual views, this is a place where you can find some peace and solace.

Grace church is located at 802 Broadway at the corner of East 10th Street, Manhattan, New York, and is on a walking distance from Cooper Squire. It is a historic parish church. They conduct worship, music, education, outreach, campus ministry, and church restoration project. They also run Grace Church College, and Grace Church School- a coeducational independent school in New York City, having about 400 students in Junior Kindergarten.
The marble steeple of the Church Building is very impressive.

Grab the 15 minute tour pamphlet as you enter. It gives quite a bit of history. Designed by the same architect as St. Patrick’s when he was only 23! Just beautiful!

Stumbled across this gorgeous church the other day and stopped in my tracks. I'd been passing by it forever but it had been covered with scaffolding. It's now reopened and looks amazing! It's considered one of the architectural treasures of NYC and is landmarked. It's more than 150 years old, and an important Episcopal church. Definitely worth a visit.

Love the gothic details of the architecture and the lovely courtyard. This is where P.T. Barnum orchestrated the wedding of General Tom Thumb and the guests raised a huge ruckus in this elegant place. Lots of cool history about this church. Intriguing neighborhood also!

Next to an outrageous Halloween costume store, near bustling Union Square, down Broadway from the Strand bookstore, this neo-gothic gem invites all to pause and contemplate. If you are lucky enough to pass by at the righ time in spring, you will see the daffodils, magnolia and cherry tree in bloom just north of the church entrance. If you come at midday, you are likely to be able hear "Bach at Noon" on the magnificent bicentenniel organ.
Whatever the time or season, you will be refreshed and uplifted by a visit to this church.

Very quiet, very peaceful. We walked the nave, careful not to disturb the worshippers, and viewed the memorials and stained glass windows. Manhattan locked outside, inside? Reverence and contemplation.

Walking by noticed this beautiful old Episcopal church, signs posted come in "rest and pray", so glad I did, inside is breathtaking, gorgeous stained glass and murals. Also offers a free 15 minute cell phone guided tour by calling 917-791-5000. Church is very tranquil and peaceful, built in the early 1800's

Designed by James Renwick Jr. (who would later be the architect of St. Patrick’s) in 1846, this Episcopalian Church is one of the most gracious profiles in the City. It’s covered in marble quarried by the Sing-Sing inhabitants. It owns its unique position to the stubbornness of a farmer, Henry Brevoort, who refused to allow 11th Street to go through his farm, thus the angle! It’s Gothic Revival with impressive stained windows and rosette. Beautiful woodwork. On the National Register of Historic Places since 1978. Notice the magnificent New York Mercantile Exchange with its cast iron facade across the street. Free
