I took the picture from the beginning of Madison at 14th Street. Famous for all of the high end shopping and advertising firms. My grandmother was born & raised on Madison & 110th Street.

Madison avenue is lined with elegant and luxurious stores, you should go, whether you intend to purchase anything or just window shop.
We visited the Bridal Salon Amsale - hoping to find a wedding gown for my future daughter in law.
The salon was a dream- like elegant boutique showroom with an intimate lighting and comfortable seating for all the guests. Champagne served on arrival...
Yes, she found her perfect wedding dress on Madison Avenue...
Some years back my daughter found her perfect wedding gown in the Carolina Herrera Salon, located on Madison avenue also.
Highly recommend both bridal salons , they are exactly what you would expect to find on Madison Ave - elegant , classy and expensive, but worth every penny...

PROS
• World famous and exclusive iconic street
• World famous iconic high-end expensive stores
• World famous iconic buildings
* High-end residences too
• World famous iconic stuff
CONS
• Long
• Be careful to cross
“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
…. as part of my 28+K step and 18.2 kilometer walk through midtown and central Manhattan. I crossed Madison Avenue twice- once in the mid 40s and once in the lower 90s.

Tip 1: So this is a famous avenue with literally nothing except office buildings and branded boutiques/shops.
Tip 2: Not much to review, pretty much a avenue for you to take some photos and then leave straight away.
Tip 3: Items sold in the boutiques are over-priced, only crazy rich asian tourists could afford it. I wouldnt recommend anyone to visit this avenue and its definitely not one's bucket list to hit.

Madison avenue is a great place for people visiting the city. Start out on 23 st. and have a quick bite at Live Bait, then take a stroll in the park across the street, as you walk north look to your left at 27 St. on the north side of the street and you will see Manhattan's oldest swingers club, keep walking north and you will see the JP Morgan library and the list goes on.

Okay, New York is all about shows, shopping and food. There is something for everyone along Madison Ave although many are out of my current price range. It was fun just to window shop and see how the other half lives. Although I am no where close to being a client to one of these luxury shops, it was still exciting the see the many brands that are privy to the rich and famous.

We went along Madison whilst on Mrs H's holiday handbag hunt; very expensive looking stores (think Sloane Street in London) with doormen at the entrance to keep the riff raff (i.e. me) out, at least that's what they do in London lol! Popped in the Coach store but the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, Mrs H choosing another handbag for her collection and being treated very well indeed, and not quite as painful to the wallet as had feared!! There's also a v nice deli for those must have cups of tea and large sandwiches too..........

Shopping is the name of the game here. Go to their website, print out the map and know in advance where you want to go. That will save you a lot of extra walking and wondering. The stores are high-end, but found them all to be very welcoming and friendly. We browsed without purchasing - a fun afternoon of window shopping. My daughter knew which stores she wanted to visit, making our day enjoyable.

330 Madison Avenue is in the heart of midtown Manhattan, between East 42 and East 43 Streets. The Andaz Fifth Avenue is the closest hotel. If you prefer to be in the southern portion of the Madison Avenue luxury shopping area, consider The Lowell at Madison & E 63 St or the Plaza Athenee at Madison & E 64 St.
