Hard to realize the hardships some of our forebears experienced and the willingness to endure them for a chance for a better life. The museum exhibits give one an idea of the incredible magnitude of immigrants who came through Ellis Island and what they endured.

This was one of was favorite tours while we were in NY. It is a must go with the audio tour!! Without the audio tour you would not get the same feeling at all. Very emotional and heart tugging. Everyone must go at least once...More

My friend and I opted for the audio tour (included in our ferry ticket) and it did not disappoint! The narration truly achieves the end of bringing the listener into an imagined space of what it would feel like to be an immigrant going through...More

Take the audio tour and follow it around, gives a running commentary on all the rooms and the museum. There is so much to see, also fantastic grounds and views over to Manhattan, you really get a sense of what it was like when the...More

This trip was very much worth it. Half of my family came through Ellis Island 100 years ago. It was amazing to retrace their steps and learn how the process worked. We took a hard hat tour, which was well worth the money. All of...More

I have been to NYC 7+ times and never stopped at Ellis Island. It was a wonderful experience even though some exhibits were not there due to problems from Hurricane Sandy.

I have been to Ellis Island a number of times both as a solo trip and also part of an organised guided tour and the history of the island was part surprise and part as expected based on existing information. Although most of us know...More

I'm sorry. I just saw this. I bought my tickets a few days in advance during the off season, so it was pretty easy for me!

We just turned up at the ferry terminal. Not a delay to be had. We went to both Liberty and Ellis, I have to say that I would recommend staying on the boat for liberty, but Ellis island is well worth a visit. Very... More
