This place is amazing! It has old fashioned candy like candy cigarettes, astro and whistle pops, hard sour rolled candy and on and on. Also european candy bars, real Japanese candy along with the standard candy bars. Every kind of jelly belly, m&m and tons of bulk hard candy, sour rolls by the color and chocolate. The only beware is... More

Do not get sucked into the awful Dylan's Candy Bar tourist trap if you're a candy aficionado. This place is the real deal. No frills, but amazing selection and prices. We go every time we go to NYC. Awesome Lower East Side institution. GO!

Is there a candy you've been craving from when you were a kid? Unbelievably, whatever it may be, you'll find it Economy Candy. Loved everything about this place. The owner is such a great guy and made sure I left with my sweet tooth fully aching. Can't wait to go back already!

Seen it on the internet and decided we needed to take the kids when we were in NYC. Didn't tell them where we were going and to see their faces when all they could see is candy everywhere. Well worth the trip. Kids couldn't get enough, but see candy we ourself had as kids was great. Definitely worth a trip.... More

We found this store from previous reviews and decieded to visit, as its a store devoted to candy alone. It has just about everything and it reminded you of old favourites plus candy we hadn't ever seen as we are Australians. It was fund to buy treats for work mates etc but it was so hard as there is so... More

I can't remember where I heard about this place but I took a ride over and it was well worth it. Nice people, can candy everywhere, there's not an inch of wasted space. I especially like that it had a lot of my childhood favorites that I didn't even know were made anymore---plus a nice variety of hard to find... More

All of the candy and chocolates you have ever dreamed of, jam-packed into one tiny store. The staff is friendly and helpful in finding things, and there is no shortage of yummy treats here. They have all the unique candies you can't find anywhere else. I love it!

Economy Candy is filled with pleasures, new and old. The store got its start in the Depression on Rivington Street in the 1930s (hence the very Depression-friendly name). I love stopping by and picking up a small sampling of some of the old brands I remember as a kid -- my dream was to be a travelling salesman so I... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
