Most walking tours point and stare at New York-with Streetwise New York, you live it. We explore neighborhoods, recount history and study contrasts-uncovering the true New York, that's melted into pizza slices, hidden in subways, and carried in the ever-changing stories of its 8 million people. From the swankiest stretches of Fifth Avenue to the grimiest of graffitied alleys, we share tales passed down from our grandparents, gleaned from books, and whispered on street corners. Patrick guided us through the streets of Manhattan NYC with an enjoyable and clear discourse. Past and current events that shaped the city are merged into light and engaging explanations. Not your typical touristic tour... you're invited to learn and understand more than meets the eye. I find it appropriate for people of all ages and background. Highly recommended.

Took this walking tour of Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO provided to guests of the Pod Hotels on 04/11. Patrick was a fantastic guide and it was great to be shown around by a knowledgeable local. If I had more time on my short visit to NYC, I would have loved to have joined more of these tours. Highly recommend Streetwise... More

Informative guide; spoke loudly and clearly so we all could hear. Good knowledge of the area past and present. Good commentary on the changing real estate scene.

Patrick hosted us on an excellent walking tour of Little Italy Soho area, and brought us through the City Hall Subway Station (recently featured in Fantastic Beasts) which is closed to the public. Other highlights included Cortlandt Alley and street art by the LISA project. His knowledge of Nyc beats anything you will find in a guide book.

My friend and I went to Lower East Side and Chinatown free tour with Sonya, we were like 8 persons in total. Sonya helped us to get the tickets in the subway which has a trick if you pay with an international credit card. Was very interesting, I loved the street art she showed us. It was more than 2... Streetwise gave us a unique walking tour of the Lower East Side, Chinatown, and Little Italy. Andrew showed us parts of the city that we would have never found on our own. As a native New Yorker, he gave us wonderful insight into the immigration history of this area of NYC. We thought the tour was reasonably priced considering that... More

Dan was a super guide! He tailored our tour for my two boys and their friend. He went out of his way to make sure that these teenagers were engaged, while they actually learned stuff! That takes talent and patience. We have taken several private tours, and have enjoyed them all - but I do have to say that Dan... More

I went on 5 walking tours with Streetwise New York and thought that they were all brilliant. The tour guides are so friendly and knowledgeable and were always willing to help after the tours with directions and suggestions on where to go / what to do. It's great to be shown around by native New Yorkers, in that sense I... More

Our POD hotel offered these walking tours for free.. after taking the first one, we took two others. We walked through Greenich Village, Brooklyn, Soho, the meat-packing district, Little Italy.. and learned so much about the history and architecture.. fun, informative.. I would HIGHLY recommend this group! We went on three tours with three different guides and all of them... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
