Tourist needs to follow the rules!

The visitor-line of Tourist is awful and most of them are not informed on the rules of the church. Songs were nice, its a regular church and should be handled as so.

We did not get to go inside but enjoyed looking at the architecture and hearing the history of the church and prominent members.

The building, the music, the singing and the sermon were all wonderful. The choir, the pastor and the Guest Preacher were inspirational. It was also lovely to witness the blessing of two babies on the occasion we were there. It was a shame, however, that the members of the church who were on crowd-control outside were so very rude. One... More

We tried to go to an 11:30am service on Sunday 21st August. Even though it was a sweltering day we forgo our usual shorts & sandals and tried to dress appropriately. When we arrived there was a small group of obvious tourists (like us) and a very loud rude lady repeating "no visitors", "no visitors" outside the Church. She mentioned... More

This is the best church to watch a service. The minister is absolutely great and you do not need to be Catholic to enjoy the gospel. One needs to make reservation and arrive early.

Two dear friends mine travelled from Italy to visit me in New York. They had an itinerary which included visiting the Abyssinian Baptist Church. Their review of the church was one of astonishment. This kind of service was new to them, as they are of catholic faith. So I went along for the Easter Sunday, 11.30 am, service. It was... More

There is no doubt this is a community church first, they are strict on what is ok! That said we were able to leave our backpack at a store around the corner for a small tip (I don't know there babe but they deserve loads of good karma). We were there 30minutes before, they are strict people, they check you... More

Shameful. As ordained ministers in another denomination, we sought out this "Church" for worship last Sunday morning (1 Nov 2015) as it was mentioned in the guide books for this, our first visit to New York. However, I suspected something was not right when, instead of the usual "welcome" signs outside, there was a board outside demanding NO shorts, NO... More

We were there on Sunday morning in front ot the door for gospel. The guys at the door say there is no place for tourists. We were said that the church is full of the community and no place for guests. Then we went to another one two blocks furhrer. It seems so that the travel guides have to suggest... More

After my early devotional time, I woke up my family to go together to praise together to this church... Dress us up (a couple and 3 little girls)... 2 Subways to get there and we finally reached the location. We were "not welcome" by 2 members of the church letting us know that "the tourist service is at 11am" I... More
