I have been around the performing arts basically since I was born, and I will say that the singing and the pit were both phenomenal tonight (25 Feb 2020), however the dancing and choreography were worse than some high school plays. I don’t know enough about Phantom to say how much of it was intentional, however there were multiple dancers who were completely out of sync, and there was a lead role who was clearly either brand new to the production or an understudy. Overall I would see this musical again for the music, and hope that tonight was just an off night, but would not recommend anyone who is going to have a problem with the dancing see this musical seeing this production.

I bought tickets for this show in July at risk due to Covid. So our visit October 30th was just one week after reopening. We needed iD and covid proof. First time at a broadway presentation and this was a smash for me and my wife! Holds about 1,800 seats and this was at capacity. I’m not a big opera fan (actually a die hard rock guy) but let me tell you, the music from the live pit orchestra was as a joy to hear and see as was the singing and acting. Ben Crawford was 100% spot on with a wonderfully captivating performance of both voice and acting! And the female lead Emile Kouatchou held up her performance equally well ( her role is usually played by Megan Picerno but not during this performance). I must say, the entire show from start to finish was absolutely joyous. Our seats were front mezzanine section E and could see everything and everyone, $150 each. There was a brief intermission about an hour and 45 min. and then the second act kicked in. Bathroom lines were very long but the basement bathroom was more accessible. There’s too much to say about the show than I could enter here, but take my word, if you want to enjoy a great show, this is the one. ( and most importantly my wife super enjoyed it so I was a hero 😊)

I took my daughter for her first trip to NYC and first Broadway show, and we were disappointed. We had some of the best seats in the house, ninth row center stage, but the sound quality was awful, we were unable to understand much of the dialogue and singing was unintelligible. The biggest disappointment, however, was the chandelier didn't fall - the most dramatic moment of the show was omitted, and there was no explanation, no apology, and after the show when I tried to find a staff member to ask about it they had law enforcement herding everyone out who wasn't in line to buy overpriced souvenirs - there was no staff available to ask.
I feel like I grossly overpaid for a mediocre experience. It gets three stars, not one, because the performers did an excellent job and the costumes and set were fabulous - but the technical and sound staff should be fired and a partial refund should have been offered.

Maybe it’s been on Broadway for too long. Singing and acting were mediocre. The cast didn’t really connect with the audience, disappointing.
There is a big asian crowd attending the show, I was really shocked by how rude the ushers approached them. I’m not Asian, the atmosphere that behavior created, didn’t make me feel welcome either.

This musical is a classic and done very well. Really enjoyed it. To get the tickets, best to present to the ticket booth personally, saves $20 booking fees when you do it online. You get better seats too.

It was everything I expected. I’ve never seen it before and it was my second Broadway show. The Orchestra was superb and the performance was outstanding. It was well worth it. The chandelier movements was surprising. The only negative thing I would say, which had nothing to do with the show, is that this show was my daughters senior trip gift and we had a nine year old sitting next to us that talked the entire time, smacked gum and put his feet on the seat in front of him. We were mostly able to ignore him. The show closes next month and we went on the 75th birthday of Andrew Lloyd Webber with a special playbill.

I had a free night when in NYC for business, so I bought a single ticket at TKTs booth in Times Square. I'd never seen this show live and it was really cool to see it in the original theater. The music and costumes were beautiful, actors were very talented and it all made for a wonderful night out on Broadway!

Overall a great production. The stage visuals were fantastic. The only reason not a 5* was due to audio, and the restroom situation. Either the acoustics in the theater could have been better, or maybe the actors could have sung better? This is only because I’ve seen the original musical in London at Her Majesty’s Theater, where the acoustics/audio was awesome! As for the restrooms, only 3 stalls (men’s) to serve all the patrons on the mezzanine level. 12 stalls on ground level. Lines snakes around during intermission. Many people didn’t make it back in time for the second act.

When I heard that my favorite Broadway play was ending after 35+ years, I immediately made arrangements for myself and teenage daughter to see it. There are plays and then there is The Phantom. The best score, storyline and performers measure themselves against this giant, and the raw emotion of the performance commands your attention from start to finish. The memories of THIS performance will not be forgotten and the standing ovation was truly earned.

If you haven’t had a chance to see this show we would highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed as the performance itself is wonderful. Do be aware that the seats are small as this is an older theatre. Don’t let that deter you from going however.

Seeing Phantom next weekend. January 2023. Has anyone done the stage door after? I would love to get Emily's (Christine) autograph.

Hi! I would wait a few more month before booking tickets - the Broadway League said that shows will open over rolling dates in early 2021, which means that some shows might have to wait a few months after Broadway technically re-opens to actually reopen. Maybe wait until later this year and see what the deal is with Broadway then... just so many uncertainties right now :(
Phantom is the best! I hope that when you get to go you will love it!

Hoping to see the show on July 25, 2020. Where is the best place to buy tickets this far in advance? Surprisingly it looks like there aren't many seats left!

Does anyone know if there are tours behind the scenes of the theatre at any time?
Also is it possible to meet the cast after the show at the stage door?
Coming over from the UK in a few weeks to see the show for the first time outside of the UK
Written September 28, 2019
I dunno about tours but yes you can meet the cast members after the show. It’s usually placed after the exit on the side and you would wait quite a while until they come out, and not all of them do, only specific cast members come out each time and you wouldn’t know which ones. Enjoy your time! ✨

We are attending this show on a Tuesday night with showtime at 7PM. Does this mean the show will start promptly at 7PM, or is the time doors open? Meaning it will be out promptly at 9:30PM? Trying to coordinate dinner before or after. Thank you!
Written August 19, 2019
