This is a luxury private apartment facing Central Park. John and Yoko Lennon used to live here. He was shot at the front entrance of this apartment. The nearby Strawberry Fields was built in memory of John Lennon.

One of New York's most iconic old apartment buildings, the design is gorgeous, and it sits on a perfect site next to the west side of the Park. Unfortunately John Lennon was killed at the entrance, so now it's noted for that. And don't forget...More

It's pretty cool to see the building where John and Yoko lived. You can't tour it but it's a beautiful building.

I really liked walking out of the Metro and coming up face to face with this beautiful Building. The fact that this is where John Lennon lived and was shot, also brings a sentiment of having been there before.

I walked past the Dakota on my daily walk last week, and was interested to see a half dozen tourists trying to get a tour of the building. Sadly, unless you know someone who owns a co-op in the building, no tours are offered. The...More

Just like any other old classic building, the Dakota is know for celebrities associated with it specially John Lennon of Beatles fame and his wife Yoko Ono. As you are not allowed to go inside, you can see it from outside.

Home of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The windows are completely covered and their is no access inside the building to the public. Skip unless you are a hardcore Beatles/John Lennon fan. Shot where he was assassinated is here.

Beautiful building, featured in a number of movies such as Rosemary's Baby and well known - of course - for John Lennon - the memorial is just across the street.
