We went to see "The Band's Visit" at this venue last night. The theater is very typical of New York City theaters in that it is very old, ornate and the seating is a bit on the crowded side. We had decent seats, audience stage...More

This play has garnered many Tony awards, so I did want to se it before it closed. Sadly, it was not up to the hype. There is no intermission so the show Geis like it drags on. In fact it was very slow in many...More

I'm writing this review to inform people that the view from the box seats is obstructed. Unfortunately, I wasn't informed of this until AFTER I hit the "submit" button on my payment. We saw The Band's Visit, which we loved. However, the viewing angles do...More

I was glad to see some negative comments about the show. I thought it was just me, especially since I went there wanting to like it. However, the pace was glacial. I do not understand all those Tony Awards. There must have been no competition...More

Went to see The Band's Visit, which was fine (but I didnt love it, but this review is of the theater, not the show). The venue is tight. The lobby probably has enough space for 20 people. There is a slightly larger lobby in the...More

It is a mrvelous play dealing with people's connections. It brings two opposite cultures together by facing each poerson with their internal emotional struggle.

Beautiful story in a beautiful theatre. The music is phenomenal and I had the soundtrack downloaded immediately. The musicians are fantastic! Love the fact that it’s a shorter show too. Sometimes broadway musicals feel too long.

A bit of the old with the new! Somewhat cramped seating in the balcony! Otherwise a great experience seeing the show!

10 Tony awards mean little to me, especially since a good part of the show was hard to hear (poor sound mix for first 10-15 min), and since a good 20% of the dialog was in Jewish or Egyptian language, and since there is so...More

I prefer center orchestra. Box seats, whether right or left, obstructs views on that particular side of the stage. You get more legroom, but I'd give up the legroom in order to see the full stage.

Yes, this is not a large theater so line of sight is better than more modern places.

There aren't any free parking garages, but there is an Icon Parking garage next to the Barrymore Theatre at 257 West 47th Street.
