As a larger woman, I was worried about fitting in the seats in the older, smaller theatres. We had front row mezzanine seats and they were comfortable, even with my body size. Priscilla was excellent and I highly recommend it. The theatre is absolutely beautiful and small enough, you feel like you are in front orchestra. The entry is easily accessible and the line moves fast. Buy your tickets without worry and enjoy yourself!

We saw "American in Paris" here last week, and just loved it. Ballet within a musical, terrific, great music, fantastic choreography, solid cast. This should get great reviews when it opens, but I digress.....
I got tickets in the mezzanine for this hoping to have a better view of the dancing, and we did. It's steeply banked, we were in the front row, and walked SLOWLY down those stairs, almost vertigo inducing. But the view from there is terrific, and not too far back either. Nice acoustics too.
The Palace is a gorgeous, ornate old Broadway theatre, part of why I come to NYC to see shows is theatres like this. Thank God the waves of redevelopment ruining so much of NYC haven't obliterated this gem. Seems to have been well (and sensitively renovated), gorgeous marble, and chandeliers galore.
Seats aren't roomy, but that' how it goes with those. Try to get one on the aisle. Plenty of bars made it easy to get a drink, and the mens room (as often is the case) was WAY down in the basement, but there weren't unreasonable delays.
My only beef is that there was no place to leave a coat. Temps were in the 30's outside that day, it's New York, NY, and you need a coat. There's barely room for yourself in those sears, much less fit a coat in it as well. Ushers told me that the coat check was closed. What gives? Other theaters have a bartender (or other staff member) take coats at least. Not even a rack for God's sakes. Selling tchotchkes takes precedence. Plenty of people selling (or trying to) THEM. So many that they were bored. Couldn't one of them also man a coat rack?
Re-open the coat check, we pay dearly for these tickets, don't make it even worse by making people ball up their coats under their seats.

First let me say that the theater is beautiful and Judy performed there so that puts it high on the list !! American in Paris is a truly delightful and entertaining show. Christopher Wheeldon did an amazing job with the direction and choreography and we applauded and stood for this wonderful and talented cast. I highly recommend seeing this show if you can get tickets. NOW ON THE DOWNSIDE!! We purchase tickets in the upper balcony first row A to avoid our view blocked by anyone tall in front. However upon being seated our views were entirely obstructed by a railing. I mean we could see nothing at all and had to lean forward over the rail to see the performance as did everyone in the entire front row. Luckily we had lovely people behind us that didnt mind. In fact, two ladies behind me said that yes those were horrible seats they had sat in them in the past . So warning The Nederlander Corp. should be ashamed to sell seats like that without an obstructed view disclaimer or at the very least they have enough money to refit those seats to allow the audience to view the show they have spent hard earned money to see .

This show is so beautiful that it is almost painful !!! Ballet is exquisite. Gershwin songs. Brilliant cast. Perfection. What more can I say? This show is magnificent. Story is a bit different from the movie. The time is a bit different as well---movie took place 7 years after liberation. The show took place immediately after the end of the war. The young stars are as good as it gets. Not to be missed. Loved it. Will see it again.

Last night I saw An American in Paris a new musical now in previews on Broadway. I heard about the show last year when the cast started rehearsals and I was excited I couldn't wait to see it. The storyline made me feel as if I was actually in Paris from the sets, costumes, and they accents. What stood out to me was how beautifully the ensemble moved the sets during scene changes and how quickly they did it, Robert Fairchild was amazing singing and dancing. I had s great view of the stage, being that I'm so tall the aisle seat was the best lol. Go see An American In Paris playing now at The Palace Theatre 😉👍

Was so looking forward to our third show of our stay. American in Paris. Ballet and music. However, after 15 minutes in my seat was wincing and by the interval had to leave in severe pain. You can not move when installed in the seats. You can not cross legs. Heck, you can't move legs. You are in a torture box. We were in the front mezzanine with a group of 10. The other shows seats were fine - On the Town and On the 20th Century. Have made a note to not ever go to a show again in that venue unless in a box seat. It also appears to be a fire trap. I have gone to Broadway shows each year for over 25 years and know the seats are not always comfortable. But with prices over $100 they should do something to ensure people return.

The Palace theatre is the perfect venue for a Broadway play. It is charming and elegant, reflecting the elegance of times past. There are 1,740 seats in this beautiful gem that opened in 1913.

The Palace seems to be a broadway theatre of the more classical type. although the show itself is definately not old fashioned.
We have been watching Priscilla - The Desert Queen, a glamourous and fun show with lots of songs from the 80ties.
The Theatre impresses with old candelar, balconies, wood etc - it makes you imagine how the broadway shows must have been some years ago.

Hello, Palace Theater attendees,
I just bought 4 tickets to AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. I didn't have a lot of money to spend, and had to choose between 4 discounted seats in rear mezzanine ($69 each for row N on the side) or row E, center, balcony, $57 each. I went with the balcony, center, row E for 4 seats. Now I am doubting my decision, and second-guessing what I should have done. I feared that row N, mezzanine side, would be bad due to balcony overhang. However, I am reading how people are saying the balcony is beyond nose bleeds! Please let me know the real truth about the Palace balcony seating. We will be center of that section, row E.
Many thanks in advance!
