My teenagers were thrilled to have the theaters going upstairs. The prices were expensive compared to home and didn't have upgraded theater seating but it was an experience and time out of the heat.

I was excited to see a movie in this cinema that once housed 2 Broadway theatres (some of the original architecture is preserved). I mobile ordered concessions to save time, but they were filling orders for people who weren’t there and stacking up the shelves while 10 of us stood there with our orders being ignored. Finally a manager came over to expedite and prioritize our orders. As things in NYC are typically, the screens go up in floors rather than out. My movie (Theater Camp) was on the top floor, meaning it was hot as hell with barely any a/c and I had to run my personal fan most of the movie to stay comfortable. The seats were old, bordered on broken and so low to the floor that I had to nearly roll out to stand up. Then just when I was thrilled to leave, most of the 12 escalators down to the ground floor were broken. This is basically an overpriced 90’s dollar theatre that tricks people in with new movies and historic architecture. Never again.

I went here to see a horror movie whilst my son went to see a Broadway show that I had seen previously in Europe. This place seemed to be a rabbit warren of screens. I followed the signposts and eventually found the smallish theatre showing the film I had chosen to watch. The seats were comfortable enough. Actually it was quite empty. All enjoyable until a group of three youngsters arrived well after the start of the film and began to be stupid during the tense scenes - screaming and the such. I was pleased when they then left only to return with snacks & drinks 15 minutes or so later. Weird. It lead me to wonder about the security in the whole cinema complex. People seemingly breezing in and out and then behaving badly spoiled the whole experience for me...

A great way to pass time while waiting for a Broadway matinee. Seeing a movie for a few hours beats walking around in heat or cold, and avoiding the herd of people in Times Square.

What to do in New York in the pouring rain... Experience the local movie theaters - buttered popcorn, massive soft drink, good service at the front desk who told us about the $5 movie Tuesday, our bill went from $32 to $10 in q matter of seconds, what's not to like ..

We have gone to 2 movies during our visit to NYC. The first movie we saw was at Empire and I agree with the other reviews about the cleanness of the theatre and overall quality of the facility.
We went to the Kips Bay location for the second visit and booked the reclining chairs which was a really nice experience although the theatre itself was also a little dated, however the chairs made it a very comfortable experience.
One thing that I find somewhat annoying and perhaps this is not specifically to AMC is the cost of the drinks and snacks and the minimum sizes. Paying $9 for the smallest popcorn which I have no chance of finishing because it is giant does not seem fair.

I have been watching a lot of horror movies and psychological thrillers!! I saw last night in soup and the shining and a bunch of other movies!! I watched a lot of psychopath movies in 11th grade and got a blow torch for cooking!! Some may say I was becoming a psychopath but I am actually a culinary psycho!! I am not rambling on because I saw a horror movie here yesterday!! It was about UFOs and had keke Palmer and Steven Yuen and Daniel kaluuya!! It was also made by Jordan peele!! That is two sentences describing a movie with a title that is one word!! The movie was very good and I like AMC!!

This theater was very confusing to get around in. Had to take three escalators to get to our location. It could have been clear especially the bathrooms. It was also pretty pricey.

To say this AMC theater is rough around the edges is an understatement. It’s dirty, confusing, broken and just really not up the quality of the AMC brand or even other AMC theater locations in NYC. Expect rudeness and dirty everything at the concession stand, peeling paint and dirty carpet smell in the hallways and half broken seats in the theaters. It’s like traveling back in time before theaters upgraded their experiences and that’s not a good thing. If you have the choice of going to a different AMC - take it.

Easily the dirtiest, smelliest and understaffed cinema I’ve ever had the misfortune to visit. On entering the building it looked quite tired and outdated and only 1 member if staff in a huge lobby area.First visit here from the UK and was expecting and was expecting a lot lot more.Escalators going up to screen 5 were minging but nothing compared to the screen itself.Filthy, stained and huge rips in seats (H6 and H7),mess all over floor and congealed food in drinks holders but worst part was smell of damp and foist which was unbearable to the point where we left 20 minutes into film.Give this place a huge swerve it’s vile.

Anyone here tried catching the ball drop over the new year at the rooftop terrace of this theatre? I heard it is one of the best kept secret places to view the ball drop in town.

Yes, and it was a horrible experience. Way overpriced with terrible service, food, and drinks. There are excellent venues In Times Square on New Years Eve, but this is not one of them.

What is the row that is in front of the rail in the theaters? I like to put my foot up when I am watching the movie.

Hi, did you book level 5 or 6 for the NYE event? Just wanting to see if its worth the extra $150 for level 6 or if the view is the same.

I'm traveling to NYC with 2 teens (15+17) for New Years Eve. They do not want to stand in the pens for 11 hours to see the ball drop but want to experience New Years in NYC. Is AMC a good option?
