Nice bar

The full bar. Always a lot of people. Whenever there's a band performing it's extremely loud there. But the environment is awesome overall.

Stumbled upon this place in Chelsea by accident and heard live music so we stopped and headed in. We were charged a $10 cover (the thug on the door told us $20 but he would let us in for $10). He fastened a red wrist strap on us and we headed in. Good band followed by a bad band. After... More

This place had a good vibe to it. Lots of tables and chairs to sit and watch live bands. $10 cover on a Friday night. Great service! Expensive drinks.

We went there to see a friend's sister, Mary Edeen perform and it was an excellent atmosphere. It's a great way to enjoy Greenwich Village at its best.

I had not been in this place in years when I went to see a local Blues band ("Renee and the Derelicts" - excellent! If you ever get a chance to hear them). I went in to hear what was happening music-wise. The Bitter End has always been known to feature bands with a wide range of styles. I was... More

Maybe TA will not approve this but I did enter the place - so have a feel for the atmosphere and surroundings. A sound man was setting up about a half-hour before the official opening - the front door had been left ajar and he didn't seem to mind me just looking around. Sadly I didn't have the time to... There is 10 dollars cover to pay plus every show you have to order 2 drinks per person, there are in average 3 shows per night. We were there for some live music (we are musicians) and didn't really like none of the shows. Waitress was very nice though. I ordered a drink and it was waaaaay to strong, but... More

At my very core, I'm a live music junkie. And, a forever young Rock 'n Roll fan. The Bitter End is like Mecca. All you have to do is walk into the place and see all the pictures behind the bar of everybody that's performed there to know that you've just walked into someplace very special. I seldom go to... If you're from NYC and you hung out in the village, this place is just like it was 35 years ago. The musicians are not quite as grand as they were in the old days, but the ambiance just feels great.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
