Great location, and the space is really fun to hang out in. Staffed by volunteers and stocked by donations, all proceeds go to the Housing Works project, so you feel good about spending the super-reasonable prices they charge! Thanks to the people who make this happen!

This was a good used bookstore with great selection in a very open, airy setting. We were able to sit, enjoy a coffee, and use their wifi in a nice setting. Book were reasonably priced.

Cheap used books. Great cafe. The bookstore has such a nice vibe. Felt like an old library. All for a great cause!

This used bookstore looks like a movie set of the dreamiest, coziest bookstore you can imagine. Floor to ceiling bookshelves and a balcony. A little cafe in the back, lots of seating, free wi-fi. Great selection of books, proofs, cookbooks, there's a children's section, a good amount of vinyl. Housing Works is not for profit, when you buy something here... More

This is the place you want to go if you like to get out of the busy streets of NYC and just relax for a little bit. They provide seating, good coffee, apple cider and other beverages and food - and the free wifi that makes you able to work, Skype or whatever - and just relax. Add all this... More

Found this shop on Trip Advisor whilst researching our trip. Really wanted to go and made the trip down especially. Was really worth it. Yes it's a bookshop and yes I found it a challenge as when finding authors I like I realised the covers are different over there. Sadly I often know if Iv read a book or not... More

This was an unexpected find just off busy Broadway. Initially just went in to use the restroom but it was amazing how the atmosphere hits you. Excellent coffee and friendly people sat at tables using laptops, reading books or just chatting. High ceilings with thousands of books. Bonus that some of the profits go to charity. Such an awesome idea... More

This is the perfect spot to unwind with a cup of coffee or tea and BOOKS. It is nowhere near the size of the Strand Bookstore, but they have an eclectic selection and their profits support AIDS.

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
