Obviously, the play's the thing -- but every play I've seen here (most recent was Incognito) has been great. It's a non-profit theater, so the mission is more than let's fill the seats with trendy musicals or Hollywood stars. This is a place for serious drama, with good playwrights and actors who care about their craft. Normally during my trips... More

My wife and I went on a weekend trip to Times Square. While in line for theatre tickets we had every intention of seeing a musical. As we approached the ticket booth we were handed a pamphlet for "The Father" starring the great Frank Langella. We had never seen him perform live. We made an instant decision to get tickets.... OMG I am so glad I went and spent an hour and half, seeing this remarkably funny and sad play starring the wonderful legendary Frank Lagella, without giving too much away it is so good, it is well worth a look. Theater itself is pretty modern and nice comfortable seats, and if you are a autograph seeker, Mr Lagells is... More

I never thought dementia could be the least bit humorous but Linda Lavin and the cast of my mother's brief affair pulled it off. The dialogue was clever, witty and very funny! The cast was wonderful and the play was really well written. It left me kind of guessing at the end, but that was a theme in the play.... More

Many theater critics have been trashing David Mamet's new play, China Doll, with Al Pacino playing the lead. The reviews have been so negative that my wife and I thought about giving our tickets away. Thank goodness we did not. Pacino spends almost 2 hours on stage in this two-man play responsible for perhaps 90% of the words spoken. And... More

I really wanted to see Sam Rockwell in this play. Of course, if one buys a bargain ticket, bargain is the operative word. Although I must admit a good full-priced ticket was out of my range. The play was very good. On my next trip I'll have to be more aware of seat location. There is no substitute for a... More

Saw Heisenberg today with Mary Louise Parker and Denis Arndt, for a low $31 price point for each ticket, theatre that it's showing in is very modest and small, play takes place in the middle. Interesting play, actors are excellent in it. Closes end of June.

If you want to experience something at the theater that is exhilarating and unique - see Constellations starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson. A short 70 minute play that packs in a lifetime of experience - an excellent show! Don't miss it.

I went to a Saturday Matinee and saw "The Country House" The dialogue was pin point perfect, the fast repartee worked well. The acting was on the money, not a false note throughout. The humor, the drama, and the poignancy all were done to perfection. A Lot of laughs. This is a performance to enjoy!

I can't believe it's been two years since I've last been to NYC. This is the longest gap since I was in high school. Not good! It was my great fortune that the MTC was previewing its fine new play, The Country House, on this Sunday evening. It reminded me of all the wonderful plays I've seen over the years... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
