I feel like Roosevelt Island gets a bum wrap but it absolutely worth going to. First of all, you can take a lovely tram ride over the river for just the cost of a subway fare and get great views of the river and the...More

Residential and more spaced out, this place is worth a visit only if you are targeting hole-in-the-wall shops and restaurants.

This Island can be reached by the aerial tram or by subway. I've taken both to arrive. I recommend the tram for the uniqueness of the journey and the views. Your subway pass will cover the trip by tram. The island itself is small and...More

Mainly visited because we wanted to take the sky tram, which is amazing. Roosevelt Island is such a cool mix of old and new. The old abandoned hospital is so cool to see. Nice walkways and a free bus on the island. The middle section...More

The gondola ride is fun and only costs a subway ride each way. The park is peaceful and scenic. On a nice day the walk is very peaceful. Highly recommend as a less crowded thing to do in the city.

Hidden gem, in the middle of the East river. Taking the Tram is a must experience, and the 4 Freedom Park as well.

Take the tram or F train to get here. The only bridge connects to Queens. Main Street has a few restaurants. You can walk along the perimeter of the island.. 3.5 miles. It offers beautiful views of east Manhattan on one side and Astoria/Long Island...More

Tram (free for metro train card holders) can be used for traveling to this island. There is a nice walkway on the East river which is very relaxing. If you have more than 3 days than it is must place to have a peaceful time.

We spent two hours on Roosevelt Island after taking the aerial tram. There are some good restaurants here. The main attraction is the view of Manhattan from the banks of the east river. There is a nice path along the river side to walk and...More

Walk 2 blocks east from Port Authority to the F train at 42nd St Bryant Park. Get off at the Roosevelt Island stop and you're there.
