Lower Manhattan is where City Hall, Little Italy, Chinatown, Financial District, and many trendy neighborhoods. You can find the World Trade Center and the new Oculus transit hub. Plenty of great restaurants and bars. Most subway lines go through this area.

We took the subway to go to Battery Park and the Ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. You just must experience this at least once in your life. It's amazing!

We stayed on 42nd St and walked everywhere (ok, we also took the subway). There's something to see around every corner. Chrysler Bldg, Grand Central, Battery Park, World Trade Center, Brooklyn Bridge, Wall St... Great sightseeing adventure.
