There is much to experience in Lower Manhattan. Highlights include the Financial District with Wall St and the New York Stock Exchange, The 9/11 Memorial and Museum, The Oculus, The One World Trade Center Observation Deck, Trinity Church, Battery Park and boat trips to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and a ride on the Staten Island Ferry. Seeing the Lower Manhattan Skyline from a boat or ferry in New York Harbor is stunning.

Manhattan is split into a number of different neighbourhoods and there is plenty to explore. I would recommend paying a visit to Lower Manhattan as there is so much to see here.

There is the Financial District including Wall Street which has lots of beautiful architecture. Also the memorial to the 911 attack is close by. There is also Battery Park which will be familiar to fans of the movie Desperately Seeking Susan.

Close by you can get the ferry across to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty and the ferry terminal to get across to Staten Island is also here. I would recommend using this to get some great views of Lady Liberty. Make sure you are on the right hand side of the ferry as you head out.

The area is well served by the Subway and there are buses as well. Plenty of places to get things to eat and drink.

Business side trips are the best. Definitely will return on a family vacation and spend more time exploring.

Walking on a beautiful fall day after touring the Memorial was beautiful. The tour inside was fabulous and the scenery in lower Manhattan was a delight.

We came here for some business and once we finished we had lunch and went to battery park to enjoy the lovely green space and views. The skyline here is the killer feature, and we could see it from our Brooklyn apartment. So we got the best of it all.

The hidden heart of Nee York City! With plenty to keep you busy for atleast a couple of days it is very easy to lose yourself among the tall buildings in lower Manhattan. Thankfully not as touristy as midtown meaning you can feel a lot more at ease when taking photos that iron man isn’t going to jump in the back of them!

Between the parks, statues, memorials or even just some truly amazing eateries there is definitely something for everyone!

There is a lot here. We saw the skyline from our anchored cruise ship. But I know there are a couple of small museums, a beautiful park, and all these fabulous office buildings. Some of the old ones are being converted to apartments.

I must agree with a fellow traveler below, as reviewing such a big and diverse area is pretty stupid and impossible.
Lower Manhattan has many different kinds of attractions for tourists that you need 2 days only for it. Starting from the most southern tip:
- Battery park, historic park with boat departures for Liberty statue and Ellis island,
- Staten island ferry - great free attraction,
- Financial district with the NYSE and Federal Hall, in vicinity also NYC old town,
- Trinity Church, one of the oldest,
- One WTC with its Memorial and museum,
- Tribeca, Soho, Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village....great neighborhoods, each requiring at least a couple of hours.
