This is a hard one to rate. The place has a cool (albeit old and dirty) vibe to it. Ceiling tiles missing or filthy, etc. Bartender and staff not overly pleasant but to see some cool music up close and personal...I would go back.

An old friend and colleague knew I wanted to hear some Jazz, so she took me to Bar 55. I was amazed to see that it was in a precinct of Jazz establishments. I have always felt really grateful to have access to even one...More

This place belongs to Mike Stern and we have seen him performing at his own place. Wonderful experience, highly recommended.

Stumbled in here one evening while visiting NYC and had a great time. They have outstanding musicians and the vibe inside made for a wonderful evening of listening to great jazz. Will definitely be back. It's a truly special place.

After a couple of drinks I asked the barman for some of the snacks we had a few nights previously. He told me to go and buy my own down the road. I reminded him that there was some in the packet at the end...More

This spot seems to be good but the bartenders service was horrible. Although you pay them generously they are rude and condescending in their way of speaking to people. I've now experience this twice and will not be waiting my money here any longer.

The 55 Bar is as laid back and informal as you can imagine. Just drop in, find a seat, buy a drink and listen to some great music. I was lucky enough to be in NYC on a Mike Stern night, and had the chance...More

This is a very small bar, maybe 50 or so seats at tables and at the bar, so you'll not be far from the act. We were surprised to be told that no standing was allowed at the bar, so I had to wait for...More

Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the

this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You

Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
