Took a tour of Harlem with our 8th grade students. Neal is super passionate and knowledgeable. He brings a ton of energy to his tour and helped us appreciate the rich history of Harlem. Due to time constraints, we had to take the tour on our coach bus. Would love to have the time to do the full walking tour.

Went with Andy Owens an energetic 88 year old tour guide. He was amazing with his stories and historical information on Harlem over the years. The best walking tour I have been on so far. He gets top marks for his energy, knowledge and easy going ways. A tour not to be missed in New York

Harlem is a truly wonderful area, rich in history and religion, affected by poverty and violence and now battling to help the residents grow and achieve more in life. Dr Harlem (Neal) is the best our guide ever, at 88 years old he managed to leave the group behind, he is a sprightly and lovely man, full of life and... More

Me, my sister and parents had a great time on the Harlem Gospel Choir Walking Tour, we booked our tickets the day before on this website. We went on a walking tour for about 1hr and then went to the The Abyssinian Baptist Church for an amazing service. The Gospel choir and band were amazing! Our tour guide Andi was... More

I very much like to walk city streets on my own, making discoveries as I go. But sometimes it's better to get a good overview of a spread out place, and if you have any interest in Harlem, this is a great place to get grounded. I have taken three of their tours: Gospel, History and Civil Rights History. All... More

We absolutely loved our tour with Harlem Heritage Tours. We started with the Gospel church service which was incredible. It was a truly moving experience and one to remember! This was followed by some lively history told by our guides. We ended our tour at the Apollo theater. The best part about this tour is that it was given by... More

Over the previous six years we have taken twenty 16 year old students on this three hour tour. Our guide is always Neal Shoemaker, who not only is extremely knowledgeable about Harlem, but tells the story of Harlem in a very enthusiastic manner which keeps everyone entertained and informed. After leaving Harlem Heritage office the Gospel Tour commences at the... More

I highly recommend the Harlem Heritage walking tour! The highlights had to be my tour guide, Andy Owens, and "Mr. Apollo", Billy Mitchell, who both provided their own perspective about the rich culture, history, and politics of Harlem. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

This is the Sunday morning tour that begins at a church where we are suppose to hear unbelievable gospel music and then walk for an hour afterwards seeing Harlem sites. Our group was very large and it was hard to stay together once we got to the church, so make sure you have your leader in site at all times.... More

My name is Neal Shoemaker owner of Harlem Heritage Tours. Thanks for attending our Harlem Gospel Walking Tour.
