    Vibrant Historic Area
What a powerhouse location at the meeting of Eighth Ave, Broadway, Central Park West and Central Park East along the SW corner of Central Park. Designed in 1857 as part of Frederick Law Olmstead's vision for Central Park which involved a rotary in the SW corner of the park. It abuts Merchants gate, one of the parks 18 major gates. For years it was called the "circle" or the "grand circle" until 1892 when the Columbus Monument was placed in the center of the circle. It is comprised of a 28' granite base, a 76' column topped with a 14' marble statue of Christopher Columbus. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area is central to many of New York City's most historic and cultural places and things and is surrounded by Central Park, the Trump and Mandarin Oriental Hotels, the shops at Columbus Circle and more. The circle is also the municipal zero mile point from which all official city distances are measured.

    Big Crossroads
It's a very busy area with a major subway station, a new vertical shopping center, lots of offices. Just north of the Broadway area and just below the Upper West Side at Central Park West. Major entrance to the Park.

    On the Corner
Columbus Circle is on the South West corner of Central Park. There is a roundabout and three roads meet here, 59th Street, Broadway and 8th Avenue. At the centre of the roundabout is a statue of Christopher Columbus who is looking down on everyone passing by. As it is a major junction it is quite busy so be very careful when crossing the road and keep your wits about you as cars come from different directions. There is an area at the centre of the roundabout where you can sit and relax but personally I would prefer to walk a little further to Central Park where there is some amazing scenery. The Time Warner Building is here with some swanky shops. The Trump International Plaza Hotel is also here. Whenever I passed it there was a strong smell of cannabis (!)

Always a fun and safe area of the city to stay. Easy access to Central Park, many great restaurants and hotels, museums, shopping, and the subway to get you anywhere in the city.

Columbus Circle is a nice part of the West Side and is the gateway to Central Park. It is full of vendors and modern buildings as well as great history (and a subway station nearby). I recommend!

This area near the Central Park is one of the prettiest areas in NYC with lots of beautiful structures, Central Park, Trump Tower, Plaza Hotel and more.
Shops at Columbia Circle Mall are upscale and high end. We highly recommend this area for travelers to NYC.

Great location at the corner of Central Park. Subway stops, shops and restaurants nearby. Whole Foods provides nice place for a quick bite of food with takeaway and inside dining. Nice crossroads.

This huge circular park is located just outside the Central Park, almost on a corner of Central Park. There are a number of tour guides selling horse drawn tours of Central Park near Columbus Circle. It is definitely less crowded than a lot of other parks in New York City. There are a number of vendors around the Columbus Circle/Central Park area selling food, ice creams and other things. There is a tall statue of Cristopher Columbus, in the middle of the circle. The statue was created as a part of the 400th anniversary of Columbus' landing in the Americas. The park is open from 6 AM until late in the night, according to the signs posted there. A number of options to shop and dine around this place (as would be the case with most other places in New York!). Easy access to the subway makes this a good point to stop by and enjoy the city vibe, especially if visiting the iconic Central Park.

Restaurants, ice cream or shopping. all are conveniently around this circle. try Venchi Chocolate & Gelato at Columbus Circle for an excellent ice-cream, or the shops in the mall. The place is especially nice at dusk

This is a major crossroads, big avenues come together, it's the corner of the park, several subway lines, and then there is the new multi-level shopping center. And the statue on the pedestal. One of the grand places in the city.
