This was neat to see....but you can not hike anywhere close to the rock. Parking lot is about a half mile from the rock. Bring your binoculars if you would like to see anything up close. Supposedly they light it up at night but we...More

Chimney Rock is amazing to see in real life. The history of the site really speaks to American history and the Oregon Trail. The visitor center is pretty small but only charges $3 for admission so it is worth it. There is a short video...More

We stayed at the campground nearby, within site of Chimney Rock, and were delighted to see that Chimney Rock is illuminated! We enjoyed our visit there very much. Take in your National Park Access Pass - you get a discount even though it is a...More

I'm glad I saw the rock, but I knew enough about the history that I could have just seen it from the highway. The visitor center didn't add much to the experience. They have a spotting scope focused on the rock, which is quite a...More

We arrived too early to go in the visitor center so I can't speak for what is there. Stopped by for a chance to see Chimney Rock, the major landmark along the Oregon Trail. A neat bit of history that's worth checking out.

I’ve read that Chimney Rock was the landmark most often mentioned in the dairies of those traveling the Oregon/California/Mormon trails. Perhaps it makes a difference if you are “from” Nebraska, but this pile of Brule clay never ceases to impress me. Take the time to...More

We started our family vacation in Western Nebraska and it was nice to learn some of the heritage. Chimney Rock was a really cool start to our adventure.

Stopped by the visitors center. Had 2 small (4 lbs) dogs IN backpack carriers. Sign says no pets in MUSEUM. So I went in to inquire if I could go in the bookstore, not the museum, with my 4 lb dog in her carrier. The...More

This was a fairly quick stop on our vacay. It s definitely worth seeing. Another interesting site in the area is what I will call the tractor graveyard(Bridgeport Tractor Parts) on the corner of US 26 & 385.

Passing by and took a look at Chimney Rock but when you have been to Bryce and Monument Valley only a few days earlier you are disappointed.

The visitor's center may have access to one, but I would contact them through their website. It has an email address at bottom of page to the director. The visitor center is usually open year round except major holidays.

if you are arriving after the centre has closed, do not turn into the parking lot. Continue on the road and just past the entrance to the visitor centre s a perfect spot to stop and take photos. Please, just remember to... More

My suggestion is one hour min. Yes, the visitor centre is your first stop for the movie, the indoor exhibits and then stepping outside to take in the magnificent view. What most responses did not mention is the drive up... More
