We had some extra time on our drive from Tucson to Albuquerque & saw that The Nature Conservancy's Muleshoe Ranch was rated highly for birding. So from Pomerene we drove 40+ miles on dirt roads (Cascabel Rd, 3-Links Rd, Muleshoe Ranch Rd) through the 3-Links...More

We stayed 3 days and had a great time. The birding was excellent and there were very nice trails, all on the Nature Conservatory property. The staff was both friendly and informative about the area and its history. I'll be back.

For day visitors not staying in the casitas, this is a great place to bird or hike. My suggestion would be to come early in the day and hike up Jackson Cabin road to Bass Canyon. If you'd like a shorter, easier trail, look for...More

This desert hideaway offers several miles of trails, an unusual hot tub, and good birding. The casitas are comfortable and well maintained.
