The House is well preserved and interesting. More interesting is the history about Dunbar and his family. Dunbar played an important part in history, establishing African-American writers. Didn't know that this is part of the National Parks System.

We didn't know much about Dunbar before visiting Dayton, only what we'd read about his connection to the Wright brothers. But we learned a lot visiting this beautiful home. The ranger who gave us the tour was cheerful and engaging, and every room in the...More

It is sad that the National Park Service feels the need to include this site in the Dayton Aviation Heritage complex of Wright brothers landmarks. Paul Laurence Dunbar went to school with Orville Wright and they were supposedly friends even though I have never come...More

Not a whole lot to see besides the preservation of an old house, but it is some good old Dayton history. It looks like a spot in an end of town that needs some revitalization.

Paul Laurence Dunbar is our first great African-American poet. Here in this house he wrote many of the poems we still read today. The house is a National Park and the guides are very knowledgeable. Must visit for anyone interested in American poetry -- or...More
