We stopped here on our way to Mt Rushmore from Yellowstone, on your way closer to the tower you'll meet some prairie dogs. Check out the gift shop/trading post as well.

No aliens, but still a wonder to see. The trail around it can be a little challenging if you are older and not in the greatest of shape, but it is still well worth the effort. The view are amazing. Plenty of benches to stop...More

If staying in Rapid City, SD it's worth the drive after visiting Sturgis. You'll add another state to you total as well as visit an amazing geological site. The country side is beautiful as the hills become pine covered. Small ranches appear with each new...More

Really, a great stop. Don't miss it. Allow enough time to do the 45 minute walk around the base - we didn't and regret it. Really awesome to see up close. Listen to the theories of how it was formed. I still believe Richard Dreyfuss...More

We stopped at Devils Tower on our way from Mt. Rushmore to Yellowstone. Although we stopped as a diversion to break up the trip, Devils Tower is truly a unique geographic formation and was well worth visiting. There is a 1.5 mile loop around the...More

Great stop to get out and walk around it. Although you can climb it you would have to be some kind of crazy. Easy to get to not too crowded. You can get away from the group by walking around clockwise.

What else is there is to say, you have to see it in person. There is reason this was a special place for Native Americans. Also go climb it, you only live once, book a room and guide at Devils Tower Lodge.

The main parking is right at the trail head. There is another parking lot near a building between the entrance and the trail; I’d estimate a half mile or more from there to the trail head.
