We walked across the street from our Hostel and into the Christ Church and must have stayed there for about 30 minutes talking to Tish - one of the volunteers at the church. She was so knowledgeable, so friendly, and able to answer our many,...More

Since this church is on Market Street and near the historical area, I recommend stopping in for a quick visit for anyone who loves history. The church is where George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Betsy Ross attended. Its interesting because the previous priests are buried...More

Sitting in Washington's pew and seeing how he and the other members of the colonial America spent their time, seeking the guidance for the way forward made the historical versions of the figures much more human.

I went down there to get information about Christ Church Burial Ground (where Ben Franklin is buried) and the people there were pretty short with me about it.

Doesn't take long, but worth going in. Go see this when you walk over to Eldreth's Alley. See George Washington's pew and pieces original to the church. Pretty gardens outside too.

Very near independence visitor ctr. and other philly historical must-sees; many of the founding fathers worshipped here - they will show you George Washington's pew! Also learned it was the tallest structure in the new world for half a century, plus why there's no basement...More

I popped in here on my way to a medical appointment. Neil let my husband and I tag along with a tour group from Texas and he was an excellent guide. He is the historian of the place and he brought the history alive for...More

I don't have an exact address, but as you can see in previous posts, Google is your best friend! As for touring it on your own, yes! I don't recall if they even have formal tours, but there was a caretaker (or a very nice... More
