We just attended a play at the Academy. The play was so-so. But the building is magnificent. Built in the 1850s, the acoustics are marvelous. The design and attention to detail is just overwhelming. What a great experience.

I guess this could be considered Philadelphia's answer to New York's Carnegie Hall or Kennedy Center. A handsome building, most seats with a good view, attendees are helpful to guide you to your seats.

Of course Iggy Pop and his Post Pop Depression band were amazing! But, this is a review of the venue. The Academy of Music is a big part of Philadelphia's history. It's a very beautiful and huge venue. The architecture is really amazing! They usually don't have rock music here. However, it worked very well for this kind of music.... More

If you ever have a chance to see a show at the Opera House, do it! Absolutely stunning venue with great acoustics (as it should be). It's gorgeous!

This theater is lovely, but, on the day we visited, it was poorly managed and the experience quite disappointing. They waited quite a long time to open the doors and there was no one to direct the people all streaming in at the same time. There were very few ticket scanners, so people trying to get across the lobby to... More

Rrrrr Dinosaur. Went withe the family to watch Pepp Pig. It was our 1st visit and lucked out by picking Parque box seats. They were a good choice with adequate room for adults and a good view for kids just make sure you get one of the 1st three seats in the box for your little ones. The theatre was... More

My mother and I went to see the Sound of Music here. When you walk in you feel like you are a part of history! The auditorium is graced by a large crystal chandelier. Seated on the cornice above are the figures of Poetry, on the left, and Music, on the right. The elaborate carvings and wood sculpture decorations, and... More

The building is breathtaking. Words can't describe how beautiful the interior is. The negative was we sat on the first row balcony and the railing made it difficult for me to see the stage. My husband who is over 6 foot had no problem seeing the stage. The bathroom line at intermission was ridiculously long, not enough stools! Next time I... More

We were totally in awe, walking into this elegant facility and somewhat surprised, as first time visitors, that we could not find its name of it in our program which featured the near-by Kimmel Center while not mentioning the Academy of Music at all. As with most theatres, the restroom lines were long, so keep that in mind if you... More
