It's great to explore the shops ("adult") but it gets old easily and there's not much going on. Too many other areas of Philly to explore than here.

Oftentimes I end up going here to show visitors a more "colorful" side of Philadelphia. Lots of vintage shops and some noteworthy sex shops like Condom Kingdom that are always a good laugh and helpful if you need a gift for a bachelorette party. Also...More

I like the mix of people on South Street - mostly younger, but different races & classes. And I enjoy the stores and shopping nearby. It always feels like a boost emotionally to be there.

If you are interested condom shops, sex shops, middle eastern food/smoke shops that have "Irish food" (whatever that is) along with cheesy bars along with the occasional nice store or restaurant, South St is for you. It started out as a cool place to be...More

So Street draws a bit of a hard core party crowd in the later evening so beware! Great restaurants, shopping, and ambiance earlier in the day.

Do you want to have a "real" Phila cheese steak? South Phila is your place. Don't expect the streets to be clean, but do expect the smell of urine.

There are some good places to eat here, like Supper and Brauhaus Schmitz, but most of it is like the worst parts of the Boardwalk.

Times have changed and this is not the South Street that I once knew. South Street attracts a much rowdier crowd than I remember. Parking always a big problem. Did not feel safe after dark.

South Street! A street as a Mall. Walk along for many blocks to see, taste and experince eateries, boutiques, and specialty shops..

South street used to be the place back years ago. Its either that its because I am older now or its just gotten worse. The crowd is young and rowdy. There is no parking and always traffic.

The South Street is not just a street, it's a promenade sight... There are many hotels near-by it. And all of them are rather good, and classy. I would prefer these among others: Alexander Inn, Morris House Hotel... More

Does anyone remember "the south street walk"? It was a festival in the 1970s. They allowed vendors of antiques and other cool stuff, to set up. There were bands, etc. I'd love to see another. Even the king of hearts was in the theater.
