Going to the market is a must when in Philly. Being able to get fresh fruit and a cannoli. The food is so great and desserts.

Pat's and Geno's start out on one side of the Italian market. Meats, Meats, and or Meats. You can find the mural of the old Mayor. Definitely worth half an after noon but I wouldn't spend more than that in the area.

Most of the shops were closed because of the 4th of July holiday, but you can still walk by and feel the nostalgia of a bygone era. It is a bit run down but there are many Italian shops; butchers, outside grocery stalls, and bistros.

You can get pretty much anything you're looking for at this great outdoor market! They have really good produce for a great price. Lots of great shops along the same street as well in case you want fresh pasta, cheeses, olive oil, or anything else!

People may still call it The Italian Market but I call it The ninth street market. Most shops are no longer owned or operated by Italians. It may look the same but the spirit and feel of the market is gone. Good thing they're not...More

Stepping onto 9th street was like stepping into Philadelphia circa 1920. The smells and selection of produce, meats and misc was overwhelming. Come with a healthy appetite and cash, a lot of places don’t take plastic. The produce was cheaper than our grocery store and...More

Location: Easy parking and streets...fuhgeddaboudit! Congested, loud and dense. Park far away and walk over. Street Vendors and Food: The "local" produce is not local. Many farmer's markets and fresh markets resell produce. Ex. "Local" Kiwi, Bananas and out of season fruits. The Italian storefronts...More

This is a must see, plenty of good food and the smells of Philadelphia are awesome. Plenty to do walking around. If you are a germ a phobe you may not like it but it is good. Food stands along the sidewalks may seem funky...More

Great for shopping for groceries and some speciality food items. You have to kind of know what you want and be familiar with the stores to find the right place.

There aren't any hotels in the immediate vicinity of the market. Perhaps an air BnB nearby? The nearest hotels would be in Center City and parking would be at a premium. It's only a short can ride or 20 minute walk from... More

Yes, that's the one! The market is still there! Rocky (the statue) is not far away (like 15-minute ride) - near the Philadelphia Art Museum.
