The Trocadero Theatre was first opened in 1870, offering musical comedies and traveling minstrel shows under the name Arch Street Opera House. Later, vaudeville and burlesque came to its stage with notable professional showgirls performing burlesque during the 1950’s. The Theatre was refurbished in the late 1970’s for use as an art house cinema and fine arts theatre. In the 1980’s, the Theatre was remodeled as a dance club and finally for its current use as a concert hall and live music venue.Although the Theatre has undergone many notable changes, the utmost care has been taken to upkeep and modernize the facility while retaining its historical character. The Trocadero is the only 19th century Victorian theater still in operation in the United States. It is listed on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.

The troc is a nice place to see a show. It's a small, intimate venue for sure. The only complaints I have were the small bathroom facilities and staff not knowing what bar was open during the performance.

I love the Troc! I've been here loads of times and it is always a blast! The bouncers are in general nice and look out for you and I've never felt intimidated (20s female). There is a wild selection of performers here. The crowds that are attracted to the Troc vary in age and tend to be alternative and grungy.... More

Was here for a comedy show. It general admission (or it was for the comedy show), so I would recommend getting there at least 30 minutes before the show starts, as the line starts to wrap around the block. The theatre is small, with folding chairs. There are bathrooms upstairs and downstairs, that are very small. The lay out of... More

I have been here a few times for concerts. It's right on the edge of Chinatown and attracts loads of different types. It barely has any street presence and you can walk by it if you are not careful. The inside hasn't been renovated since ~1981. The bathrooms are plywood doors slapped together. The rundown ambiance is actually awesome. The... More

A small little venue on the outside, but bigger on the inside. Plenty of standing room and refreshments aren't too overly priced. My only problem is there was literally only one table in the standing area so finding a place to set down my drink proved to be a challenge.

This theatre dates back to the 1850's which is why people think it is too old but that is it's beauty. Being so old Abraham Lincoln caught 2 shows here (1862 & 1864 ). It then was a vaudeville theatre and by the 1950's it had turned into a old style strip theatre. Those ladies never totally disrobed but was... More

I've been going to the Troc since the early 90's. The punk/hardcore shows at that time were great due to no stage barriers and the bands that played there. Security has always been an issue as the staff doesn't seem to understand the volatility of a hardcore show. I was literally dragged out of an Avail show there for really... More

A friend and I went to the Troc for the No Filter Show in May and it was amazing! Such a great venue, and nicely sectioned for different ages.

Saw a few different shows here. The sound quality is really great. Depending on the show sometimes the 2nd floor is blocked off for VIP and sometimes it's 21+ only. I guess I'm getting old because I really just want to sit when I go to shows now. Ha! The bench things are ok at first, but then by the... More

The Troc is an ancient venue! One bathroom, have to park in garage (they validate parking, so I guess not so bad), very crowded on floor, and you can't bring drinks on floor either. Dirty and decrepit venue. Only go if band I really liked was playing there, would otherwise avoid.
