- NapiliRTampa, Florida274 contributionsWorthwhile unless you already know a lot about US Constitutional historyFrankly, I don't know how to rate this. As an historian with a specialization in US Constitutional History, I learned nothing new at this museum. However, the docents were outstanding. Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. The introductory live performance was moving. The signers hall was quite interesting, and the view of Independence Hall from the second floor window was awe inspiring. I think most people would find this interesting.Visited January 2023Written January 25, 2023
- Kathryn Z2 contributionsStaff were exceptionalThe entire staff was helpful. They voluntarily assisted us in being sure we missed nothing. The open layout of the Constitution Ctr. allowed each visitor to walk at their own pace. The presentation of the development, application, issues, and updates to the Constitution was exceptional.Visited March 2022Travelled with friendsWritten February 8, 2023
- Elizabeth M119 contributionsMust See MuseumI cannot say enough about this amazing museum. Be sure to start your visit with the live presentation/overview in the theater. The presenter was nothing short of AMAZING. I was moved to tears and just felt proud to be part of such a unique experiment in governance, flawed though it may be. The exhibits outside were informational and interactive. (I now have a video of myself being sworn in as president of the United States!) There is a Signers' Hall which has 42 life-sized bronze statues of the founding fathers. It was amazing to move through the room and feel a part of such a monumental time in history.Visited April 2023Written April 1, 2023
- Craig A288 contributionsLOVED IT!I was a history teacher so don't hold that against me, but even if I wasn't this place was awesome! We spent about 2 hour here. The museum is great and there is so much to take in. I don't think you'd be disappointed here. There are so many other historical things to see in this tiny little area that you just can't go wrong.Visited May 2023Written May 15, 2023
- Kd_chocolateAlexandria, Virginia40 contributionsNice museumMy kids (16 and 11) and I enjoyed this museum. We went as soon as they opened on a weekday and thoroughly enjoyed the Freedom Rising presentation that's scheduled every quarter past the hour. The Sidney Kimmel Theatre was very nicely setup in a round fashion and the presenter was excellent also. We also enjoyed the voting booths and being sworn in and we had to go see the flag of the state we live in and the state I'm originally from along with when they were established. And we almost missed the George Bush Gallery with all of the statues...a great photo opportunity.Visited June 2023Written June 24, 2023

The volunteers and staff are very knowledgeable. Not to mention really friendly and approachable too! There's a lot to take in here with lots of interactive fixtures to engage with throughout each exhibition. Definitely give yourself at least 2 hours to see and do everything.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten September 15, 2023

This museum was a disappointment. While the technology heavily influenced the displays, it was not as meaningful. We were traveling as a family of four with our 16 and 13 year old. Both kids felt the same way. The best part of the museum was the bronze statues and the Civil War section. The many volunteers were all so kind and eager to make your visit meaningful. I would also recommend calling to find out if the museum was hosting large groups. There were 250 rowdy children when we were there and it was hard to even think at times. Knowing they had this group, why would their system sell us tickets for the same time? It cost $68 for our family to attend. Definitely not worth the money.

We loved the complete picture of the founding of our country. The room of statues was very cool to walk in and imagine.

The presentation "Freedom Rising" was stirring. I loved it. The main exhibits were terrific, but construction ends the history around the 1940s. My 14 y.o. daughter enjoyed it a lot. The "Can you vote yet" sections--showing how voting was limited to white men with property for much of US history--were very impactful. The big representations of the three branches of government were great. I would have liked to have spent more time reviewing Supreme Court decisions--they were great.

Great museum. The show in the lower theater was great. I recommend going early because it gets crowded with youth groups later in the day.

An amazing educational space that everyone should visit. It is free of charge on July 4th, the day we visited. Very well put together. Every American should make it through the excellent resources in this area -- the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell Center, Independence Hall, Christ Church. This is where the Great Experiment was birthed, an area so rich in history.

Everyone should spend time at the Constitution Center! We take our government so for granted, and it's inspiring to be reminded of what it took to establish this democracy. The introduction performance makes the heart beat faster and the exhibits following made me wish I had the full day to read all the material. Good interactive models as well.

Yes, I agree with the others. It's an easy walk. We walked everywhere, between the historic district, City Centre, Rittenhouse Square, etc.. You will enjoy hearing and seeing the Wanamaker Organ! It was a highlight for us!

Hi Barb, Its a short, scenic, 5-minute walk through independence Mall to get from the National Constitution Center to the Liberty Bell. The Liberty Bell is less than two blocks away, and you can check out Independence Visitor Center on your way!

You can likely get all this in during your 2 1/2 days, but might be pressed depending upon when you visit. weekends in summer can get crowded with lines to certain venues. fortunately, most all of these are pretty close together and within walking distance, except for city hall which is about 12 blocks away. if you are staying at a hotel, i'd try to stay at one in the historic district so you don't have to drive. the national constitution ctr will take 2 to 3 hours to see, the others, less time. we have never done city hall or the Ben Franklin museum, so i cannot comment on them. i'd also suggest visiting the Reading terminal which is around 12th street. its full of all types of food vendors and would give you a true 'taste of Philly' a great place to take a lunch break. I'd also recommend the Franklin Institute, interesting for everyone, but especially for kids, especially if you have a rainy day. its not in the historic area, but you can easily get public transportation to it. hope you enjoy your trip to Philly.

I am thinking of trying to fit this in with The Franklin Institute and the Philly magic gardens (all in one day) since we are only going to be there for a couple of days....is this a reasonable timeline?

Yes. You will wan to set aside about 2 hours for this at least. It is right across the street from the US Mint and Liberty Bell and 1 block away from Independence Hall. This was the best of the tours. So I would recommend prioritize this over the others. This is the most educational, most interactive and most current of the tours.
