This is a pleasant place for recreation, the trail follows the river and offers some great views of the city. The Boathouses themselves are interesting, though the best view is from MLK Drive rather than Kelly Drive, especially for the iconic nighttime view. Can get...More

We were told that this is the closest place to drop a line in the water. Very nice park with very limited parking. Time your arrival by avoiding peak times like noon-3pm. The river is very active with crews practicing and races. The river appears...More

interesting to visit and see where our first flag was sewn, see the grave, and visit another piece of history. Great old buildings and architecture in this Old City. Felt too pricey for short visit, not much to see.

Row upon row of boat houses along the river. The location are used for filming as well and if you're lucky you'll spot rowers exercising on the river itself. A scenic drive and area next to the river stretching for a mile or two or...More

Boathouse Row is near the Art Museum on Kelly Drive. This area of Fairmount Park is a nice walk, but is a close up view of the crew houses you're not allowed in. The better view is on MLK drive where you get to look...More

It's easy to miss Boathouse Row if you confine your visit to the museums or historical sites, but just past the museum are the Water Works and Boathouse Row, both of which are real gems. These boathouses are still very much in use after 150...More

I adore Boathouse Row. I lived just a few blocks away many years back, and weather permitting walked here daily. One of those perfect Philly places just behind the art museum.

Location of the annual Skimmer row races and a pretty spot along the river. These boat houses have history, and you can see them from the Expressway.

Don't expect much. It looks nice from across the road. I found it difficult to get to a place where I could park the car for a moment and have a look.

This is dozen or so clubhouses for rowing clubs on the Schuylkill River. Many but not all appeared to be connected to various universities around Philadelphia (Penn, Drexel, etc.). Unfortunately, you can only walk on the parkway (Kelly Dr.) side of the boathouses, not on...More
