When driving into Philadelphia on I76 at night the sight of the lights on Boathouse Row are simply beautiful. The lights adorn the buildings which are on the directly on the Schuylkill river which makes sense since these buildings are where the rowing clubs store their boats. It is a beautiful drive or walk especially at night and is Free.... More

I highly recommend just to take a walk down the sidewalk down Boathouse Row. These houses, the river behind them, and the cold air at your nose takes you on a nostalgic walk past these historic, riverfront houses. Must see!

This is were local rowing clubs store their racing boats. The place looks totally awesome at sunset from the Martin Luther King Drive . It's all lit up. In the spring time and the summer and into the fall they gave Regatta's on the river. You can see someone rowing on the river all year long. Picture a warm summer... More

This is perhaps the best nighttime drive along I-76, seeing the Boathouse Row with the lights flickering. This Christmas Season, they have changed it to red and green or white. Captivating and nostalgic. If you are driving out of the city, try taking the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive as you round the steps of the Philadelphia Museum. Great vantage... More

By the time we got to Boathouse Row, we had walked almost 10 miles all around the central Philly sights. But this was a very enjoyable walk - along the river, along the various college and school and fraternity buildings - some of which had seen better days, and some of which looked like they were just built (only in... All of the houses are lit up after dark, and look great! During the day, look for rowers practicing.

I'd recommend being on the opposite side of the river (hang out on Schuylkill Drive) to take in the beauty of boathouse row. After dark, the entire row is lit up and it's one of the prettiest sights in the city.
