    Very impressive
I accidentally stumbled across this site while walking through Macy’s to the Starbucks. I looked up and saw this impressive organ overlooking a large atrium in the middle of the store. It was an unexpected site in the middle of Macy’s, and I quickly learned of the store’s and organ’s fascinating history. I didn’t get to hear it played, but it was very impressive to see.

You need to hear this piece of history!
This was our first stop off the plane. We rushed to make it for the 5 o’clock show. We had just enough time to grab a Starbucks in the downstairs area and ran to second floor to optimal views of organist. Wow. Just wow! I felt like it was cold chill inducing. I love the movie mannequin so this was really iconic for me, but my husband also enjoyed himself and he had no experience with the references to movie scene. The Wanamaker is so very cool and unique. Not to mention free!!! A must hit for Philly visit, budget friendly agenda or not! Don’t miss this beautiful piece of history. Go, go, go!

    Unexpected Surprise
Not what you’d expect to find in a Macy’s store, but an amazing fine. Free concerts, twice a day. There is a great viewing area directly across from the organ on the second floor and there’s a nice spot for photos of the organ pipes from the second floor as well.

    Magical sounds
Loved the organ and the sound was just so heartwarming. Kudos to Macy’s and all the donors to preserving this site. Unexpected and surprising to see this immense musical instrument and the organ player, such talent to know his way around all the controls and sounds

it is situation in a shopping mall, everyday, there is organist to have free performance, the sound is beautiful, you can check the performance time, each performance is more than half hour, we come late, just listen 10 min, then it finish, but we are glad that we can hear some of the performance, it's a very grand organ, even go there to take picture is worth

We drove up from D.C. to hear the Wanamaker Organ because it has been a bucket list item for a long time.

Oh, to hear that elegant beast played! Every day at noon, if not other times. A wonderful program of Bach, French Romanticism, and some good old earth-shakers. We heard the organ for a while from the alcove next to the console where there was a small TV screen set up. It was good to see a bit of the athletics the organist needs to undertake. But the best sound was from the second-floor balcony directly across from the pipes. Unobstructed sound. It was the kind of concert that I would have gladly paid good money for. While I have a sense there was still a lot more to the organ to be heard - it was a noon concert, afterall - it was a shatteringly beautiful experience.

It is a wonderful thing that Macy's still allows this magnificent organ to be played every day. I suspect the staff that work there may not think that, but I was sure glad for the opportunity to hear that iconic instrument.

Thank you, Macy's

Stopped in at Macy's and was met with a whole lot of history. If you are lucky, you'll be there during one of the free organ "concerts".

Being from St. Louis MO I had to see this due to its connection with the 1904 St. Louis MO Worlds Fair. Very majestic and just amazing to see how large it is. Yes, it is considerably bigger from its original size but, what craftsmanship and love!

What a beautiful surprise: we walked into Macy's for a quick lunchtime shop, and were met with striking live music. Serendipity indeed. We walked upstairs to get a closer look at the organist continued playing. It was a real treat.
